Default Fan(s) issue

Hi all,

I think I'm having an issue with my cooling fans... I've noticed I get no fan when the car is off, even if it's hot out...

Also, when the fans DO come on (key in "on" position or car started)

Both fans start, and after one second, one of them shuts off...

The car is highly modded/swapped GC/WRX so most everything has changed at some point.. so it's a Frankenstein at best..

Obvious questions are,

Am I actually having an issue, I should have fans with the car off, but could anyone possibly shed light on why I wouldn't?

Any thoughts as to why one would start then stop after a second (doesn't even get to full speed)

I understand 12v electronics extremely well, I can read the electrical prints and all, but I'm not sure where to begin besides the underhood fuse/relay box and/or what I'm looking for or what's potentially missing...

Thank you Gents
Aaron

Does the fan for the A/C turn on when you use the A/C system? You could also check the fan operation by plugging in the green test connectors I believe. The ECU turns on the normal fan on when the engine temperature sensor for the ECU gets over a certain temperature, possibly around 195 degrees. The tempertaure sensor is different from the one used for dash temperature gauge. You might try hooking up a scanner to see if it is working ok and showing the proper engine operating temperature.

The A/C system is long gone...

Tell me more though, is one fan for A/C while the other for cooling?

I'm trying to figure out if my order of opperation is correct with them running or not..

Thanks for the reply Sir

Just plugged in the test mode connector, I get cycling of the fans, one (pass side), then the other(drivers side), then both, then off as "normal"

That is a good thing. Check to see if the temperature sensor for the ECU is working ok.
