yeah 110 thousand dollars . and yeah.....coulda had anything i wanted like a crazy supra or big boy mustang or v8. oh well you live and learn. I can honestly say its fast as hell. I think what i enjoy most about it is that your always the underdog compared to boosted v8's and super cars yet 9/10 times they are far behind asking themselves what went wrong .

As for the money invested, its so much because im including the cost of the car and all the different turbo setups the car went through.

2 utecs, 2 cobbs, countless intakes......you get the idea

I just started with a bov after all!! then as i got into going really fast parts that were on for coolness you removed for parts that only make it faster ........425 whp used to be fast....then 500whp......used to be fast....and in a few months ill be saying ehhhh 700....its nothing special just like everyone elses.

Can we see a build thread or info on what make up a $110,000.00 WRX or see what a $110,000.00 WRX looks like?

it could be replicated for way less. its just i tried a dom 3 setup, everything was new. car also rocked a full bolt on fmic tdo4 setup for a while. alot of things were bought and sold as i learned what was good and what was junk.

ANyway sry to thread jack. sucks this thing suffered some failure.

Where to begin...

Honestly, I MIGHT have 1/5th of what you spent into my build

The crazy part is how much it cost make a subie fast compared to an evo!

At first, I was doing every bolt-on when I bought this sti, then decided to just go all out like it is now but fortunately I was able to sell my stock shortblock and every other bolt-on that I was not using anymore so it has helped me a lot!

I was also thinking of selling this sti once I hit the 600whp mark and run a low 10 sec pass then sell it but I have decided to make this a dedicated track car from this point on but for a il bit I was thinking of picking up an evo lol

Haha dont worry man, and yes, it sucks what has happen but that is what happens when trying to triple the stock whp output levels but it will be up and running better than ever and these problems will be in the past

Updates on the sti rebuild:

I got to discuss some things about the heads with nate while we were at the monthly subie meet @ quaker steak & lube...

So the Ferrea drag racing valve springs that I have purchased have to much spring pressure than what is recommended to run the kelford 272 dual-avcs cams that I had the original problem with, so now I am trying to pick the proper camshaft to match these springs, possibly the Cosworth S2D camshafts?

Some of you may be asking, "why not switch to a lighter spring"?
Well the reason I am not doing that is because Nate and I have also decided to make the sti a dedicated track car now so I want to run a big lift, long duration camshaft and we are going to start stripping the car done to the bare essentials(remove sound dampening, door panels, carpeting, air bags, trim, unnecessary wiring, installing ceramic wheel bearings, light weight wheels and brakes, fender exit exhaust, etc) to achieve the best times possible and hell, maybe set some records while we are at it?

On the topic of the head rebuild though, I received my new ARP case bolts, L19 head studs, Cosworth 12mm blueprinted high pressure oil pump, Deatschwerks hard wire kit for the external fuel pump, and new gaskets so literally the only thing left to take care of is the camshafts which I will be ordering over the weekend hopefully :-)

Poor sti? lol

I think more people should strip their cars in the name of speed rather than this "low & slow" stance crap that I see in every magazine now

Its gonna be insane when it is completed!

OP you should be commemorated for your positive attitude though all of this. It's because of this your subaru is on its way to becoming one VERY fast machine that can tangle with the most exotics...and it's privately funded! Congrats to you.

I was personally rather impressed by the powerband on the first page. You were crossing 300ft/lb by 4400rpm and on the road it probably hits even harder. There are 20G set-ups that can't do this and it's with a turbo that can potentially hit 600whp.

Can't wait for the new plot with your new heads and fuel set-up! BTW please post in here when you will be headed to MIR. I'm down here in Richmond VA but will gladly make the drive as Budds Creek is about an hour or so drive for me.

Thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate it very much!!!
Its because of people like you, friends and family that keep me motivated to continue my build!

There are so many people that deserve credit for helping me with the car!

I have learned a great deal through everything to this point and will continue learn even more as the car evolves which i enjoy because you can never learn to much especially when I am surrounded by knowledgeable people such as Nate who has been nothing less than amazing!

We are going to be down @ MIR the first week of november for the import vs domestic shootout! Be sure to stop by and say hello if you come through!
