This post should answer every one of your questions. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1946291 It requires taking the entire assembly apart and putting it back together. If you have any mechanical skill with a car it is not difficult. Quote:
EDIT: On further investigation to link posted above it looks like '11 WRX may be prewired for this. You may have lucked out. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...4&postcount=24 Quote:

This is pretty simple for the 11-up WRX. You need the signal units, and the mirror covers (need to get them painted though). You can get those parts new from Subaru or you can save a few bucks and pick them up used.
You do have to figure out what you need to do for wiring, from the mirror plug to the signal unit. Monkiboy and I have both brought in a number of the JDM mirrors for members here and elsewhere, commonly they have the signals, the nice thing about buying them from a used set of mirrors is you can get the wiring with the signal units to make it just like stock. I am working on sourcing the connector for that so I can make new harnesses for that. I might have what you need in stock PM me if Monki doesn't have stuff for you. |

^^Yeah there is your other option, buy the whole 11+ STI mirror, if you have 11+ premium or limited WRX its plug and play.

Looking at the online parts catalogs it seems like you might not be able to buy the whole thing, but you could piece one together from the individual parts, looks like the minimum you would have to spend with a discount OEM Subaru vendor would be $550 or so. You would still have to have the new mirror covers painted to match.
Best bet if you want the easy install, is to hit EBay and carpart.com and find yourself a set of STI mirrors in your color. |

You can paint your own mirror caps too, I have painted a few of them, using matched cans from paintscratch.com, see below those caps were painted in my garage. ![]() Its all a question of where you fall on the "available money vs available time" curve... |

@Power6 — Do I just wire the signals into the existing mirror connector on my '11 Limited WRX? Does that connector on my heated WRX mirror have the leads to make it all work?
Buying the caps and signals new from subarugenuineparts.com or from you to make this happen ain't a problem. If I'm not mistaken these are the part numbers I'd need: Lamps: 84401AG042, 84401AG052 Covers: 91054AG061, 91054AG071 Edit: I answered my own question. Pulled the door panel off and checked the connectors. The connector on the end of the mirror wires have no leads in terminals 1 and 5, so it's definitely not as simple as inserting new wires from the LEDs and reconnecting. ^^correct sir the wiring in the mirror isn't there. Since Subaru doesn't service all the parts inside the mirror it is not available.
You have a couple options: Rig it up yourself, you can run wires into the mirror, figure out some generic terminals to hook to the LED units, and then tap the wires on the door side mirror plug. Check this similar DIY for 08-10 WRX for an idea of what to do there. Get the original wiring and add it (PM me and I can set you up with signals/caps/wires) you can add the signal wiring into your mirror it will be like stock, plug for LED unit on one side, snaps into the mirror plug on the other. You can use my JDM mirror DIY to see how to disassemble the mirrors to add the wiring. What's nice is all the 11+ WRX have the live signal wires, so you just need to add it to the mirror and it will work. I really need to make an FAQ for this... |

We need someone to confirm the base WRX signal wires are live. If you are willing to take a door panel off and have a volt meter or test light it is easy to do.
08-13 all WRX have the wiring for signal, 08-10 is spotty some have the signal wiring "live" some don't, 11+ we know premium/limited have "live" signal wiring, so base probably does too someone just needs to flip on the flashers and test at the wires in the door at the mirror plug make sure 12v is there. |
