Default Toyo tires

I saw that tirerack has the Toyot R1R as a new product, I thought that they had a previous model called that. Do Toyo tires perform well as a street/road course tire? I was looking at Hankook RS-3 and Dunlop StarSpec.. These look like they should do well in wet conditions, the water channels look to be well organized and have ENORMOUS shoulder blocks... I am not familiar with Toyo and if their tires are good great or kumho.

Thanks

I'm using the Toyo R1R, got them from Tire Rack, have have not used them on the track yet, got some other things to finish on my "Bug-Eye" before I get her on the track.

The only complaint I have is that they hum.

These are my first Toyos, I've been running Falken Azenis RT 615 in my previous Impreza.

Nice brakes. I have the st-60's

Do you have them facing the wrong direction? It appears that the channels are running backwards... would that cause hum?

Thank you, and no the tires are pointing the right direction. One of my friends who has used them in the past said that they are a bit noisy.

I'm sorry, but any Extreme performance summer tire (hankook rs3, nitto nt05, dunlop star spec, kuhmo XS, ETC) is going to be noisey. They all have stiff sidewalls and have more of a contact patch then regular tires.

I personally like the noise of performance tires, it gives me a "because racecar" feel
