Well may be there was a car already built and matched your order at port or something like that. But with everyone wait time atm you either just missed out on a chance to win a big lottery for a WRX instead or you were lied to haha.

Try to contact SOA instead of going through your dealership. If you have a VIN they can somewhat track the car then. You might have gotten lucky and they matched you with a car that was already stateside that went unclaimed or something.

Awesome. You guys all call SOA? Is there a certain number you call? I'm assuming that means Subaru of America. I guess I can just google who to call if that's them.

Choose 4 for customer service rep

I actually just called and they told me the dealer would actually have more information than they would. That might be dependent on your region (I'm in Baltimore, MD) so your mileage may vary.

I refuse to call them. Pestering SoA / the dealer about where your car is won't make it come any faster, and it just makes the waiting so much harder.

I plan on poking my dealership like mid January to make sure the car is coming in February; otherwise, it'll be a pleasant surprise! I half expect it to not come until March/April :/.

SWP WRX 4dr Limited w/Nav
Ordered: 8/18 (roughly 12-1/2 weeks ago)
Placed on hold for the last 3-4 weeks (still currently on hold).
My salesman has been in touch with SOA/SOA Regional Rep. the past couple weeks.
ETA: Should receive the ETA sometime this week, according to SOA . They say the car should be here in a month or less (which would be approximately a 15-17 week wait time)...

To all you folks with stuck at the "hold" status. I am sorry you are in that position and it must really suck.

Were your orders on hold as soon as you ordered it? Or was the status "Ordered" then went to "hold"?

Ordered 8/17 WRB Limited w/Nav
VON: immediately at the dealership

My order was on hold for a couple of weeks in October.

VIN: a couple of days ago

SoA called me. I had called them a couple of weeks to inquire about the status of my order. They said my car was on the Meridian Ace, and it would dock in Baltimore on 11/29, and I should have my car in Raleigh, NC by 12/10.

Mine was initially "Ordered" for roughly 9 weeks, then switched to "Hold".

I got my VON on 9/29. Still no VIN. Sounds like some people are getting theirs sooner than others. The wait is very frustrating. Especially when I can find DGM Hatches on autotrader. The dealer initially told me it would take 5-7 weeks to get the VIN and then 8 - 10 to get the car. It's week 7. This wait is toture!

Anyone know if there are laws in place in North Carolina that will prevent me from getting my deposit back? If people who ordered in August still haven't gotten their cars, its sounding like my Oct 4th order won't be in until 2013. I'm not willing to wait that long.

The dealership is required to give your deposit back if you ask for it... At least that is what another salesman told me.

I called SOA they said they'll call me back with info in the next day or two for a status update.

Does anyone with allocation number 1114 or 1115 have an ETA yet?

SOA has"gone quiet" now. Since it's mid-Nov and I have always been Nov ETA, I called again for an update. (My credit union won't do my loan unless the car is coming in 30 days). Now they need to "check with the region". Won't tell me if it is still ETA, on-hold, etc.

(Opening day order here, with Nav. Why did I do Nav again after going through this before?)

You thought that an October order would come in less than two months? Why did you order a car if you need it so soon?

Because you don't know how to operate a phone's nav?

Its hard to know know what to think when dealerships are still telling people 6 weeks of wait time. If I didn't come on here I'd still be expecting to see mine 2nd week of December.

It's not fair to play that card. In the rest of the world, 2 months is a long time to wait for a car. For a lot of manufacturers / models, an order would only take a month. Not everyone is on this forum, or paying attention to this thread before they order, so it can be quite a shock when you see it for the first time and realize the hell everyone is going through.

I think not many dealers have as much information as people on this site lol. I was told 6-8 weeks when I ordered mine early October. Then I started reading and see that people ordered in August are getting their cars which is around 8 weeks wait period so I told myself that isn't too bad. Then Subaru announced that 4 months wait and I was heartbroken haha. however I try to be positive and just think that the longer I wait the more money I will have to put down and will not have to pay and just may be able to get my dealer to throw in some more saving or some extra accessories

Well it is a bit of a shock to find out that you might have to wait 3-4 months for your car. However if you think about it the car you're getting isn't a regular car (ex: corolla, civic, etc...). It's a low production car with high demand. For many people WRX/STI are their realistic dream car.

As someone else mentioned, it isn't exactly a high production car. Their dealership should have mentioned the extended wait times; even if they didn't, you should have gone in with a bit more research under your belt. I find it hard to believe that in this day and age someone would just show up at a dealership and drop an order on a WRX/STi without some word of mouth or internet research. Again, it all comes down to what their dealership told them. My October order I was explicitly told not to expect it until February; theirs said 6 weeks time frame. Shame on that dealership.

For most, the wait is worth it. Unless your current car is about to burst into flames, I don't see what's wrong waiting a couple extra months for the "realistic dream car." If they're just being impatient, then oh well.

I didn't do any research beside looking up how to haggle with the dealership. I was initally looking for a 2011-2012 WRX however because of the price tags on those I decided to go with a 2013 order. I didn't say there was anything wrong waiting for the car a bit longer. I said just "may be" I can use the longer wait to talk my dealer into giving some more discount on the car (i'm talking couple hundreds or so) or give me some extra accessories that doesn't cost a lot like floormats or something like that.

2 cars ordered
STI 5dr (no-nav)
WRX 5d Limited (no-nav)

Ordered on 10/20/2013 (SAT)
VON on 10/22/2013 (MON)

Was told 10 - 12 weeks on average, could be as long as 14 weeks.

WRX Limited (exactly as ordered) came in regular inventory earlier, so we got that on 11/03/2013.

Still waiting on the STI.

Paid $500 down on each car when ordered.
These are both with Subaru trade-ins and cash - no financing.

No news on STI yet. They contact me every Monday to give me an update, even if there is no update, just to let me know. Which is nice.

Oh yeah to people that complaints about the wait. At least you guys are getting an ETA and your status is "ordered" my has been on "hold" since the day I ordered it even though I had a VON instantly.

Since when does anyone know to do research on how long a order wait time would be? Honestly.. Look through "how to buy a new car" and find all the advice you want.. Nothing about wait times.
