Now u baby the car and the moment you drive it like you should, some thing goes wrong cause something didn't seat properly, and its now it acts up after 36k. Now it's your problem.

I refuse to believe that Subaru nor any other car company doesn't test these engines and QA's them before putting them in vehicles.

Just my .02 cents, like many already said there are many factors to this, but bottom line is its up the the owner.

Got my vin, eta, and just waiting for the car. Having the eta is worse than not knowing when it will come! Now im counting down the minutes till the eta!
It's amazing that the Japanese don't do any run-in on these motors prior to installing. European manufacturers do and even US does it. It's not like their giving them away and can't afford it. My WRX is roughly the same price as my wife's tricked out Mini Cooper S and that had a complete run-in and fluid change before it left the factory.

What are you basing this off of? Is there some sort of proof that Subaru does NOT do any run-in stuff at the plant?

I'm pretty sure EVERY motor company has a QA department. And all your subaru fluid is just as new as your wife tricked out mini cooper S when you got it brand new. I'm pretty sure the 1000 miles break-in period is more of a safety precaution to make sure everything is alright.

That's not abnormal. The canal is a major bottleneck for shipping as it can only handle so many ships per hour. Though, it's still faster to be stuck there for a day than to go around south America.

None that anyone knows of. Did they give you an ETA? Just keep check with your dealer.

Her Mini had the first oil change at 14.5k based on the computers recorded driving style. I was real nervous about it research showed it seems to work just fine. I've been driving for 40 years and never had a new car that required a break in period. The most I ever saw was a 500 mile oil/filter change. I have built race motors (V8's) that I took the time to wear the rings in though. I don't plan on beating on it for awhile (if it ever shows up)

Mini/BMW uses those 15K oil change intervals. Since most of us want to keep the cars after warranty, I change the oil at 5K on my wife's BMW. Even with synthetic oil, it is much cheaper to change the oil more often than replace the engine.

Has anyone ever been able to call SOA and find a car that was unallocated and essentially order that one? Seems kind of silly not to be able to see whats on the boat

I received my VIN, build/completetion dates, and ETA.
Finished being built yesterday, out for shipping this week.
ETA for the car is 12/17

2013 STi Limited in Satin White Pearl - Non Nav

Has a lot of port installed options, which I'm told might push my arrival date another week.

Do a dealer search in a 250+ mile radius.

SOA is a holding company for Subaru/Fuji. State franchise laws prohibited company owned dealerships. So you can call SOA ask and they might be able to help, but at the end of the day whatever dealer SOA directs you too to finalize the terms of sale, because you need to be a licensed dealer to sell new cars, will have the last word. And by last word I mean, bring lube and tissues. After they bend you over and tell you what you will pay, you are going to cry.

I know SOA can't sell the car but the dealer only can see 30 days out, but I have a feeling SOA can see further than that. So I can say ill take that one (to the dealer) and not having to worry about picking something that horribly backordered

SOA often says the dealer can see more than them lol. But they both have access to the same subarunet. I say work with the dealers and see if they can find you one or go on autotrader and look for it.

I just ordered a 2013 DWP WRX Limited sedan in white!! I ordered it late September and he told me it will take 5 months if not, longer to come in! I added red floor illumination and that's it. One question though. Does it matter if I get an exhaust system before the first 1000 miles Or after? Will it really help my engine if I wait? I mean it's just a catback

2013 SWP WRX. Base hatchback. Wheel locks, SPT exhaust, and bumper cover.
Dealer told me 4-6 weeks.

After the first few weeks, I made it a point to email my dealer every Monday morning.

Code:
Ordered: 10/8
VON: 10/8
VIN: 11/17
ETA: 12/17
Can't wait for it to come in. I've had about all I can of Maryland winters in a Mustang Cobra.

Also, for what it's worth, the Meridian Ace got through the Panama Canal earlier today and is headed for Jacksonville!
