This is the main reason why I'm afraid to order a car because I have a bad feeling that the dealership is going to "appraise" my car for XXXXX and then when I go to trade it in when my ordered car gets here 6 months from now I'll be offered thousands of dollars less and tell me to take it or leave it.

I wonder if they can guarantee a price provided I don't drive a certain amount of miles or damage it in any way, I have a beater already and my trade-in is hibernating for the winter.
Depends on the dealer we got a forester last year and when we did an appraisal they honored that price when the vehicle arrived 2-3 months later. In my current situation when I ordered the Wrx he appraised it quite low and said he'd re appraise it when the car arrives. I won't put more than 3k miles on it by then and prices vary day to day but over a short period of time not significantly. I will try to hold him at the same value if not try to get it up a little higher.

See if you can work out a deal with the dealer based on arrival time and keeping it under a certain milage.

That's what I'm going to have to do I guess. I'll demand to get it in writing as well since they wont believe it otherwise and lowball me later.

I really don't want to order a car, I'd rather wait around for a dealership to get an unaccounted for car, but that's just not happening since there isn't a single unsold base STi in the state. I just don't want to be vulnerable to their lowballing since they'll know that I'm almost a guaranteed sale since I'd be ordering the car and I wouldn't want to walk away from something I waited 6 months to get. They'll probably offer me a fair trade in price at first and then offer me half of that when my car comes in so they can get me to leave the car and then sell my ordered car for a 5000 dollar markup unless I get it in writing beforehand.

Very nice, I have a 07 MS3 right now and I got Cobb AP, Cobb SRI, rear resonator delete, and a few other things. I love the TQ steer that everyone else hates lol. Once I get the WRX, the MS3 will be given to my girlfriend so the MS3 will be staying with me

I have experience with this. When I went into my dealer I first worked out the actual price of the car, and talked them down to a price I wanted. Then we worked out how much my interest rate would probably be (because I didn't want to apply for financing before the car arrives), then we worked out the monthly amount. After all this was done, we went out and inspected my car and got a quote. They appraised my 2010 2.5i at $14k.

I didn't want them to appraise the car first, because if they gave me a good deal up front, they wouldn't likely budge on the asking price of the WRX. Just don't let them see the whites of your eyes. If you act really excited, and jump on the first offer they give you, of course they'll get away with murder. Just act cool and have a plan. You might even want to shop around and have quotes from a few other dealers so that they know you will walk if they don't play ball.

The manager wrote down on my paperwork that he would honor this price when the car came in, and asked me not to drive a crazy amount of miles in between then.

Sweet.. I got mine in 2007 when they first came out and all the Cobb stuff wasnt available yet or in very early development stages. Awesome you're still keeping it in the family. Did you already order your WRX yet? If so what'd you get exactly and when does it arrive?

Sorry if this was discussed in the previous post or have other threads about it but I was wondering if someone can give me recommendation for dealership that would give invoice price for STi in Southern California.

That's good then. However, could that also be because of the "Guaranteed Trade-in Price" thing that Subaru offers? Since I don't own a Subaru, they might not honor it due to that special thing that is offered when upgrading your Subaru. Regardless, I have a handful of ordered car quotes from dealers around the state from when I asked about if and when they'd be getting another base STi. I even have a very recent quote on my trade, but that was when I wanted a BRZ at a different dealership and changed my mind after driving it.

If there's some clause where I can't drive XXX miles, that's fine. I barely drive the car as is, especially not during the winter. I just want to get the most amount of money out of it.

Could be part of it. But my Guaranteed Trade in was $13k, and they offered me $14k, so I'm happy with it.

so i was thinking...if the 2014 is the new gen. they probobaly wouldnt just send out a 2014 instead of the 2013 like ive heard they have done in the past. since the new gen is likely a few grand more if its anything like the civic (price jumped about 4k over previous gen)

I thought I read in a couple places that 2013 was going to be a short model year because the new fen was close. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

So 2015 model year? Plus it's always possibly the wrx won't be available for year until the new one comes out.

STI Sedan base model w/ Navi. I will be sure to take pics asap as well, hopefully post them by Friday. I will take before and after pics to show the quick progress. The car is coming with SPT boost gauge, SPT exhaust, STS, and the side air deflectors.

Picking it up tomorrow morning, tomorrow afternoon clearbra / tint will be on, and tomorrow night I will be installing a front lip, hellahorns (red), RA flaps (red lettering), and my 18x9.5 +44 Rota DPTs in hyperblack. I have red spline lugs on order as well but still haven't received them and its been 2 weeks. I also ordered a set of springs but the dealer is putting those on for me.

Good luck to everyone and will post pics soon as I can.
