This has not been my experience. The first time I called they gave me an allocation number. The second time I called them they said they would email me an update. This morning I received this:

"Hi Heebus,

I wanted to let you know that I have checked into your order for your 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX. I have reviewed with Subaru of Santa Monica who advised me that their WRX orders typically arrive between 12-16 weeks from date of order. At this point your order has been processed. The next step is to receive the VIN number for your vehicle. From there we will be able to determine a better estimate of when your vehicle will arrive at your dealership. Although we do not have the VIN number at this point I can assure you that we are moving towards fulfilling your order and we should have new information soon. As always, your dealership would be your best resource as they have the most current vehicle arrival information.

Your patience is appreciated. I assure you that you will be getting a special vehicle and it will absolutely be worth the wait!

Yeah I doubt they can really get much info before the VIN is provided. That would be expecting them to plug into Subaru's production schedule in Japan, and that's just not going to happen. Once there is a VIN, the car is built and on its way, making it much easier to track.

Can I ask the dealership to leave the stickers on the car since I'll have the car shipped. I wanna get it in the same condition as it leaves the port, I don't know if its possible.

If by stickers you mean the plastic, then yes. I told my dealer no wash or detail (since I'm going to bring it home and claybar and wax right away) and he said no problem and that most of the guys that order from him ask for their cars the same way. All you have to do is ask and they will leave them on for you.

I could be wrong here but isn't it typically best to wait a few months before the first good wax and clay?not trying to derail the thread but I was under the impression it takes a good amount of time for the paint to properly cure.

Paint from the factory is already cured. If you got it resprayed recently then yes the paint needs to cure.

Think about it, by the time all the panels are painted and then assembled in the factory it has already been a few weeks then once the car is done on the assembly line it sits until it is ready to be loaded onto a ship. The ship takes about a month to get to the US ports (at least on the eastern shore) and then it sits at the port for at least another 2 weeks waiting to be loaded onto a train and/or truck which can take between a few days and a week. It's def. cured by the time it reaches your dealer.

Lol thanks. I'm at 3 weeks and 1 day...counting down the day until it gets here. I think it's harder because you don't know an exact date that it will be in...could be in 6 weeks could be in 16 lol.

After spraying, paint only needs like 12 hours to cure.

hello everyone, new to the site and to subarus in general. my wife wants me to sell my s2000 so we can plan for the future and I told her that if I need to haul kids around town that I'd like to do it in something that I wanna drive and my first notion was an sti. I've been sending inquiries to dealerships around San Antonio and Austin and so far I've been able to get one dealer down to $33.9k for a swp 4dr base sti with door trip, spt exhaust, short shifter, boost gauge, fog lights and wheel locks. the associate is telling me that it's around invoice and it seems to be a great deal. how good of a deal does this seem to you guys? sorry for the novel of my life.

cliffs: best deal from dealers on a swp base 4dr sti with almost $2k in options is $33.9k +ttl. what say you?

Ugh, I'm in the same situation as you... Except I ordered 07Jan2013. If mine got here in March, I would be happy as hell. I just got an update w/ no VIN and an eta of Late April/Early March.

I love seeing dancing nabanas, because it is usually indicative of good news
