all of you guize having them leave the plastic on...

be careful with that. i urge you: let them inspect it cosmetically and let yourself inspect it AT THE DEALERSHIP. take the plastic off. they don't have to wash it or spray tire shine or any of the other crap that causes people to lose their minds...but just trust me on this. check everything, and do it indoors. check body lines, fender bolts, etc. make sure it all looks brand new and unmanipulated. it's not a bad idea to get a cheap magnetic paint guage and just walk around the car and check it out. there is a technique for that and you can read about it on the web.

Do you know the cutoff date where they will stop accepting orders for 2013 models? I'm looking to place mine late March/ early April.

I plan on ordering a white 5door WRX limited, are there are options that I should really get from the factory? I know this will be very opinion based, But I was thinking maybe just a short throw shifter and window/sunroof visors.

Should I expect any hassle/delays when ordering this vehicle other than the standard 12-16 week turnaround?

Thanks guys
i was temted to do the short shifter but i decided against it, figured i could just add it later if i wanted it. as for the sunroof visor...i would heavily advise against it. why would you want it? all it does it collect dirt around it and mess up paint on the roof

I got rid of a 12 year old truck worth <$4k in exchange for my new WRX, and my insurance went up by $100 / year. Of course, we're bundled with 2 cars, our house, plus i'm married, over 30, etc etc. But yeah, i was excited when i heard it was only a $100 / year increase.

Looking to get rid of my 2009 BMW 135i in hopes of a new 2013 Sti.

Best I can find around here in the Albany area (Upstate,NY) is 300 over invoice on a 2013 Hatchback at CapitalLand Subaru in Scotia, NY.

Anyone else think there is a better deal around?

Really? It's going to feel like an overweight, slow pig coming from the 135.

You'd be much happier in a 335.

Probably, but so will the 335.

It is an interesting move though. Why the change? Awd? More space?

I'm from Clifton Park and I ordered from Ramsey Subaru in NJ. It's right over the NY/NY boarder about 2-2 hours and 15 mins from CP. I paid $500 under invoice for mine when all the dealers on the capital area wanted close so MSRP, some wanted more then MSRP. I think it's worth the short trip.

Default 2013 WRX/STi orders

I initially wanted to order my 2013 5-door STi but when I talked to several dealerships, they had advised the order process (from start to delivery of car) would take 4-5 months, rather than 2-3. The reason being is that when an order is put in, they wait to put in the orders at the end of the month. On top of that, I was also advised they received a nationwide memo for orders would increase to this time frame (4-5).

I ended up driving up to a dealership in the Orange County/LA area and they had the exact one I wanted. I think the best thing to do is to continue to call around dealerships outside of your city/town. I definitely didn't want to wait too long for my STi.

Just to give you a little heads up, I hope this helps.

Yeah I am starting to feel like the 8-12 week window most of us were quoted is BS. I am a patient guy, but my expectation was set at 8-12 weeks by the sales manager. Now we are in week 8, and ETA is mid april which is more like 20 weeks.

I agree that if a car is within driving distance, go look at it before you order. Don't believe the BS 8-12 week thing, UNLESS a car exactly what you are looking for is already in their pipline the wait I am afraid is much much longer.

I called SOA and without saying what I just said exactly, they basically confirmed they are WAY behind on orders and they are all taking significantly more time to fill.

Additionally, if i wasn't currently driving and paying for the car I plan to trade in it would be as big of an issue. Now I have at least 2-3 extra payments to make on my existing car which is money out of my pocket.

Don't want to bitch about the small stuff, but just a heads up of the reality of the situation.

Yeah I'm currently rocking my beater truck until mine comes in so it isn't too big of a deal. I would not be happy if I had to make more payments on my trade in because of a bad eta though. Have you requested they give you a loaner? Some people have had success with that.

I asked about a loaner if I was able to sell privately, which I am willing to do. They said they might be able to "work something out". Then again the hassle of selling privately sometimes isn't worth the extra $.

It is literally going to cost me about $1,200 due to a horrible estimated eta. Now I am a hell of a negotiator so we will see what I can do when the time comes.

I mainly just wanted to post up the info i received from SOA. I just don't want people to be given false hope. The SOA rep did say they were overhauling the entire "ordering" process to track shipment better etc.....but who knows when that might happen.

Well that $1200 doesn't just disappear. It's going to reduce how much you owe on your trade in so it's coming off the total cost of the car.

Let me guess, Desiree at Irvine Subaru? They have a bazillion WRX/STi's (32 at the moment) so there is a pretty good chance they have something you like or will shortly. Most guys around the country though don't have dealers with the selection we have in California. At any moment you can find close to 200 somewhere within a few hour drive, whereas other areas it seems like that's more like 20.

Basically same thing that happened with me though. Found a car in their pipeline, only had to wait 4 weeks and still got it for invoice.

Thats only correct assuming that they give me what the original trade in offer was. Trust me I am going to push hard for that, but they refused to give me in writing that my trade was worth $12,500 which is what we agreed on. I completely understand why, because I am continuing to drive the car, 5 months later, etc.

Its all good though, I put a non refundable deposit down so they have me over the barrel at this point.

here in alabama my local one had 0 on the lot, Atlanta had 2 and there was maybe 4-6 in other dealerships within a 3 hr drive from me. my local now has 0 on the lot (they had 1 a week before i ordered, but it only lasted like 5 days and was sold.

My car has been at the dealer since last Friday and I am supposed to pick it up this Saturday assuming this potential storm doesn't ruin that. I'm dying to get in my new baby.

Dude... I don't know how the hell you have the patience to wait an extra week while your whip is at the 'ship'... I live about half a mile from my dealership... I couldn't sleep knowing that **** was a stones throw away!
