That would more likely put my cars eta sooner. So they literally have to find a car with the exact features I requested that subaru just happened to have produced? Looks like I'm screwed

I too was close to getting a DGM WRX... but the day I went to go order they had a SWP Hatch on the lot. Was beautiful! Salesman tried to get me into it. I said no thanks I'll just order a SWP Sedan. I'm a little over 7 weeks but it'll totally be worth it when I get exactly what I ordered.

Sharing a car sucks when you are used to having your own. I borrow a 2000 Nissan frontier on the weekends and it may be the slowest vehicle that gets the worst gas mileage I've ever driven. That truck is really starting to wear on me. If it was manual things would be a little better. I just hope it gets here in the average 3 months.

So I FINALLLY was able to get my VIN number from my dealer (third time I had to ask her) and I decided to have a chat with one of the mechanics. Originally I was gonna take the stock synthetic oil that the STI comes with and switch it to a non-synthetic oil for the break in. He then told me that he will void my warranty if he sees me put non-synthetic in... Considering there's another Subaru stealership like an extra 10 minutes from my house, can I redeem my free oil changes there and give my old dealer a big 'ol bird?

They do, Dealers in this town are pathetic. When I bought from Stohlman in VA they were upfront about everything, didn't haggle over the price I offered(invoice) and got me the car I wanted in a 2 week period.

Bachman had an 09 DGM sedan with 48K miles for sale back in August. They advertised it as a premium for $23K.

I went and test drove it, when I pointed out it wasn't a premium like the ad said, they argued that it was and the premium from 09 just didn't have all the stuff the 2010(like I own) does. They then told me they couldn't take anything less than 21K for it since they've put that much into it.

I feel bad for whoever ended up buying that car.

Lol what. You want to put non-synthetic oil in the engine, when the manual clearly states to only use synthetic?

Can't wait to hear your rationale for using non-synthetic for break-in.

Not saying I'm gonna be using it for a long time. I wanted to use it for the first 200 or so because synthetic makes it so that the rings don't seal as well during the initial break in period.

There are plenty if shops that recommend a heavier weight non synthetic oil to break in a motor. Not positive on the exact science behind it, but I've definitely heard of many people using this method, mainly towards built motors though.

However, I've never heard of this method. Just about every dealer you go to is going to deny warranty work if they find out you used non-synthetic

Back to my original question, can I go to a different Subaru dealership after I get my subie and still be able to get the free oil changes. You guys should hear the sass my dealer gives me whenever I call.

The answer is probably no, typically services like that are dealer specific. But it wouldn't hurt to call and ask very nicely.

Just because they'll deny it for that doesn't mean that is the right thing to do, just gives them an out to not do free work

Thanks, I'm gonna have to look into that.

Just called SOA trying to get a more exact ETA because my dealer has refused to give me one. It turns out, after asking for the THIRD time, when i requested my VON and VIN my dealer only gave me the VIN and it was the wrong one. Luckily I don't have to ask a fourth time and the kind lady at SOA is going to look into it for me.

No wonder the dealership gives you so much "sass", you sound like a real piece of work. Subaru doesn't say anything about using non-synthetic for 200 miles during the break in; hence, don't even worry about it. It's not like your engine is going to explode if you don't do that. If you really care so much, then do the damn change yourself. Or you could listen to the Subaru mechanic and follow the guidelines to maintain your warranty, he's really not trying to screw you or give you the run around.

If you don't care about the warranty, then have fun.
