Nice STI, my ETA is the 19th. It's current status is "released", hopefully I'll get it early, who knows.

...Subaru only notifies the dealer once a week on Monday. So whenever I am curious about the status of my car I call on Monday and they are very helpful. My dealer even called me when my car went into production.
Good info.. thanks!

Either way my car will get to me whenever it gets to me... but an updated ETA with an actual date, and not simply the generic month of “November” would be outstanding. Going by my salesman and others on this thread I’m hoping for mid-October, but preparing for Black Friday. Gosh I'm so impatient, there's a lot worse people in this country are going through right now than to be distressed about waiting 'so' long on a new sports car.

Just keep quiet and wait is all you can do. They really don't have any info. It's not like Toyota where you get daily updates and follow the car on a cool map.

Just be thankful it doesn't turn in to a 2012-like wait! My SO waited FOR-EV-ER.

Mine was expected the 10th, then changed to the 11th. And it's now the 13th and I have no word yet.

This is going to be my first new car. Is it a smart idea to clay bar and wax a new car when you first get it?

Wax for sure. Shouldn't need a clay bar if it's brand new.

Yes.

Clay - It's going to pick up a surprising amount of crud from the truck and especially if it takes a train ride.
Wax - Paint should be fully cured from the factory. And, of course, you didn't get duped with the dealer wax scam. So have at it!

That's true. Forgot about the dirty trip to the dealer! Hopefully you don't get the pole position on the truck.

That stinks Spicy. Quick question, looking at a winter setup will '09 wrx rims work with the '13 wrx? Searched but no luck....99% sure they will.

Well... I ordered a SWP STi 3 weeks ago and when I went to check on the VON recently. For some reason, a SWP WRX was ordered.

Anyway, the dealer made right by me and had a car that was similar to what I ordered, but I didn't have to pay extra for all the stuff I didn't order.

The only down side is that it's WRB and not SWP.
Oh well... WRB was my 3rd choice anyway. Took a while to decide SWP or WRB before I placed the order since they were so close together on my choice list but both were a super distant 2nd/3rd from my 1st choice, which was LRP (red)... which everyone knows that SOA made a boneheaded move of cancelling that color.

On the bright side (besides the extra options), dealer called me today and said it was ready for pickup (instead of mid November if my order was still in).

I'm sorry, what the actual status of it? I was told "shipped to truck" was the last step, on its way to your dealer.

Congrats piper. Looks great. Was never really a fan of the base STi wheels (even tho I ordered a base, I have a set of limited BBS's to throw on there) but those match the ISM color nicely and look pretty good.

Ordered a SWP 5-door WRX on 8/20/2012. I just got news that it is at the port, I also checked the dealers website and it is there!

Congrats! Did your dealer find an incoming match or was this a custom order?

On August 15th, I ordered a WRX Premium 5-door (SWP) for invoice: 27,436.00

I added
  • Armrest Extension 101.00
  • Shock Sensor 74.00
  • Cargo Net Rear Seat Back 40.00
  • AutoDim Mirror w/ Compass 134.00
Subtotal 27,785.00
Minus Discount (-900.00) 26,885.00
7.25% Tax 1960.86
Fees 296.39
Total 29,142.25

I added the Red Footwell Illumination two weeks later, so I know that changes it a bit.

I'm 95% sure my dealer is offering to mount and balance winter tires on the stock rims for free if I bring in the tires. I'm thinking about getting a set of Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3Ds for 744.00 on Tirerack. Then, when summer comes around I'll get some black rims with a red lip and mount the stock summer tires on those.

First, I plan on getting 35% tint all around and waxing her since I have no garage. I used to detail at Turtle Wax car wash when I was in high school and I developed a love for waxing cars. I take my time and it's a very relaxing experience. I love doing half the hood to see the difference when tossing a towel on either side. Then, I'll get some Flapatax mudflaps. Then some red taillight overlays (anyone have a link?) Maybe a kartboy short shift sometime after. Then come summer I'll probably get whats equivelant to the Pioneer AVH-P4400BH receiver (do these interface perfectly with the steering wheel controls?) and a couple
Boss Audio BASS600 8-Inch Low-Profile Amplified SubwoofersBoss Audio BASS600 8-Inch Low-Profile Amplified Subwoofers
since I don't want to have to drag a box into the house every time I want to go camping.

Maybe a black front lip and exhaust after that. I've always wanted a CB too so maybe I'll add a tall antenna to the roof so it really looks like an RC car. This is something I've wanted for about 10 years. Rallisport Challenge for the original Xbox is where I got hooked on the car and the rally style. Yep, a video game did it. Then, I would go to a couple import shows when they were in town (chicago). I've just tried to be patient until I felt financially comfortable making the decision. So, until November I'm actually limiting my time outside home or work so I have less of a chance of accidentally dying before being able to achieve one of my biggest goals in life thus far.

Here's my poser swag I've had for the past few years:

My battlestation at home with the plates ready for the car

My water bottle and lanyard for work

I have a big flag like this, in white, above my desk at work

And, I just bought this aluminum collapsible shovel, for $10 at Costco, to keep in the cargo net

Sorry for veering off topic, but...

The obsession is finally coming to fruition!

Anyone interested in buying a set of 4 BBS rims?

I have a set S204 used and a set of GD7 Golden BBS all OEM and Forged. GD7 rims are remanufactured with powder coating.

Here is the link I just posted in For Sale forum

S204 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2407455
GD7 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2407450

And just FYI

What if you are almost immediately taking it to a shop to get Clear Bra put on? Hold off on the waxing until after the Clear Bra is installed?
