-low beams majorly blow but high beams are beast mode.
-The stock shifter is bad. I'm talking 1980s pickup truck bad. It is clearly part of Subaru's strategy to upsell people on the $250 STi shifter option. As soon as I can I'm swapping bushings. I don't know if I want a short throw because the length feels OK to me, we shall see.
-3000 RPM limit for 1000 miles is going to be painful. I caught myself getting to 3500 a few times just tooling around. This engine wants to rev.
-The car really needs a 6th gear for the highway.
-I see an armrest extension in my very near future.

So overall, excellent, with a few minor things I want to fix.
Almost sounds like you should have gone with an STI.

Totally agree on the suspension - it's tighter than my 05 but not rough. It's nice.

Low beams on my old one were horrible too, one of the reasons I went Limited on this one was to get the HIDs, which are a definite improvement.

Definitely get bushings for the shifter, and I think you'll want a STS as well. Kartboy is great and you won't regret it. I'd been driving on KB bushings for so long the new shifter is so mushy it's ridiculous.

Agree on the 6th gear - it's a pity that the 6MT in the STi actually has a slightly shorter 6th gear, or it would have swayed me to get one...

What do you think about the rear vis? I was surprised how much more limited it was than my sedan. And the rear view mirror feels low and in the way as well. Assuming I'll get used to it...

Enjoy it!

So those of you that have been here for quite some time... When is you're educated guess for my '14 then? I had some hope for the June allotment as my wonderful sales women mentioned nothing about a cutoff at April 1st? I'm guessing my chances for late July and early August are pretty shot as thing tend to not go my way with this car. Am I right?

Nah. The 6MT is the only STi specific feature that I really want at this point, but I can live just fine with 5 speeds. It was just my observation that cruising at 80 MPH will really chew gas due to the RPMs. Otherwise for the type of driving I do I think I'll be more than happy with the car once I get the shifter sorted out and an armrest extension installed.

6th gear on the 6MT is actually slightly shorter than the 5-sp. At least I'm pretty sure it is...

Yes, expect Augustish

Look at PY data, there is tons of data in this forum. Just need to mine it. Stickies are full of gold.

I'd rate rear visibility as a B-. I've driven far worse cars but also much better. You can't rely on your mirrors in this car, you definitely have to get some head and neck action going on when merging or changing lanes. I'm sure my perception of my surroundings will improve as I drive it more, however.

He is selling the parts. $25 for the shell and $60 for the legacy remote we need for the '13 wrx.

I bought the shell and remote, once I get the car I will have the blank that came with the shell laser cut (make sure you have someone who can copy laser cut keys)

Xluben will "make" a copied key, but you have to mail your key to him. And I don't remember the cost.

The flip key shell xluben is pretty high quality, and your insured to get the right legacy remote to work with your car. Just email him instead of PM.

The rear view mirror is definitely low. The rear visibility is meh when it comes to looking over the shoulder because of the seats.... But if you dial your mirrors in you can literally see everything. I can't find a blind spot with my seat positioning and mirrors adjusted.

Please elaborate on "PY data". I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that and searching PY data is turning up nothing. I guess that's mainly because I'm not really sure what I'm looking for.

Now that almost all of the Jan/Feb are graduated, I can finally stop checking in on this thread...although I will still prolly check it until all the 13's come in.

Honestly there are a couple other illinois guys in here who's ETA are 5/15 but from a dealership that's legit less than 10 miles away from mine. So I'm thinking there's no way mine won't be with theirs. So you should have yours pretty soon.

Ordered 2/23 and have an ETA of 5/16. That puts me in at just below 12 weeks. I emailed the dealer about a few items and he's yet to get back to me (I emailed him Thursday). At least a "I got your email and am looking into it" would have been nice.

Don't fret. Sales people take days off frequently. I emailed mine last Wednesday and didn't hear from him until sat. Not the first time I had to wait a couple of days to gear back. No biggie though.

Will do for sure. I'd really like to go DGM/Orange for the car, different than many of the red accents. I don't want to go months without flaps though.
