Huh, knew about heated wipers. Didn't know heated windshield was an option. What's that cost to replace?

Same thing, it's the windshield area around the wipers that's heated.

This isn't directed at you, just in general. This is another reason to give plenty of room between me and the car in front, as well as for general safety. And I'm not saying it would have prevented this in this case.

I agree, the boost in MPG is def not worth a crack, chip, or worse. Although me n my buddy got 58 mpg drafting in a TDI over 450 miles....most exciting gas station fill up of our lives

If youre in a state that doesnt make your comprehensive cover call Safelite and you may be REALLY surpised how inexpensive out of pocket can be sometimes.

Just had to replace mine in my '05 Grand Cherokee with rain sensors because of a Humvee and expected it was going to be a $500+ windshield. Turned out to be $325 with new Bosch wipers .

No, I dropped comprhensive when I paid it off.

EDIT: Speeling

I pay an additional $45 per year to include windshield replacement. Here in Arizona we will easily chip or ccrack a windshield once every 4 years, so it is well worth it.

Well, I got to drive car for about 3 hours before dropping it off to go on vacation for a week. Just talked to my guy doing the windows and clear bra. They sent them the wrong piece for the hood so it's going to be there until Thursday...

Doesn't even feel like it's my car yet! Oh well, I still haven't posted graduation pics. I'll do that once i get it back.

I'm also interested in the answer to this question. Is basically everyone getting the 3M Scotchguard stuff or is there another brand? 3M doesn't actually call it "clear bra" anywhere on their website.

Looks like there's a couple of installers nearby for me. I'm considering getting it done since people here seem to think the paint isn't of great quality.

Google clear bra and you'll find the 5 or 6 brand names. If you read reviews you'll find good and bad opinions on all of them. Just go with with someone you think will do an decent install.

^this, the install quality is as, if not more important than the product used.

CASH and Nuclear:
It depends how much you get done. I'm literally getting everything done: full front bumper, full fenders, full hood, rocker panels, mirrors, roof strip (protects where the faring for a roof rack sits), rear bumper, A pillars, for around $2K.

It's not cheap. But you can spend a lot less if you just want to do the front bumper/fenders/hood. More like $600-$1K

I'm getting it done in trade for design work for the guy who owns the shop that's doing it. So, I'm not actually paying anything.

And, yes, Turbo, that's what I hear too. Install is key.
