I'm getting a dark gray metallic. Is there any reason I wouldn't just let them do the tire dressing?

It's going to show up on your paint, but if you don't care...then no. I'm going to make sure it's fixed on mine.

I'm planning on ordering a 2013 STi in January (doubtful my location will have anything on the lot, ever :P) and have some questions about the process.

From what I've gleaned, is it:

1) Go to dealership, place order and drop $500 for deposit.
2) Wait a couple months.
3) Car comes, you pay exactly the price of it on the website? Ideally have a loan ready already from your bank/credit union. Haggle on trade in. Etc.

Step 3 is where I am worried the most. I keep occasionally reading about how the dealer will get the car and then proceed to jack the price up for no good reason. Read about that happening with the BRZ. If that's the case, I would be furious that they are with holding "my" car that I ordered and waited for.

Anyways, can't wait to start the process. I have some negative equity still on my '03 WRX I just got in February, but I am planning on paying off the loan completely in January. I've been considering all kinds of scenarios here; ordering in late November so I can pay off my current loan in time and not have to wait, or just waiting till end of January to order, or even attempting to just order it now and see if they will give me a 35k loan with some extra from my current car loan on top with little to no money down (doubtful there, but I have a high credit score and am a Software Engineer $$$).

Sorry for that, I'm being patient with the whole process because I spur-of-the-momented on my current WRX and have regretted the decision. Still, if I could start the process sooner...
I went ahead and negotiated a price and signed the order form; including taxes, tags/title, destination charge, and all other fees. So when time comes to pick her up, I'll hand over the check and drive her away.

I was In ur shoes, getting married in oct, was planning to wait to order after the wedding, but I decided since there is a 2 month wait, I'll order it now and the wait time will be a little less.

I negotiated my price before they placed the order. I'm getting mine for $300 under invoice. I'd hate to order one and not know how much it will cost.

Sounds good, I figured that because you were ordering there wasn't any room to negotiate and the listed price was final.

I've also read several times of dealerships pulling dick moves. I remember reading about a guy that was getting a BRZ for $27k and when it came time to take delivery the dealership turned around and said it was now $29k. Guy got pissed and ended up not getting it.

If there's a written agreement though then hopefully they can't do anything. Then when it comes in you just show up either with a quote from your credit union and see if they can beat it and you should be good to go...or so I hope .

Just trying to cover all my bases, don't want any surprises at the last second. Anyone else have any other tips for having a "good order"?

Yep they can't touch the price unless I decide to take something off the lot before the order arrives. I'm not committed to buy yet ($500 refundable deposit). The only thing not worked out yet is financing, which is probably to my advantage because I'm anticipating 2013 deals by the time I take the order.

That sucks, but congrats. The dealer finally got everything installed on mine, and today's the first day I've had a chance for pics.

for those that call SoA what do they need from you other than your name and a VON? I don't have a VON because my dealer doesn't know what they are but I figure they should be able to track it down regardless.

I'll be carrying things that are tall next year(moving, ect), and I like having the extra space in case I ever need it. Plus I just really like the 5 door. The only way I'd get the 4 door, is if I went STI.

I ordered a hatch because all I've ever had is sedans. The majority of the cars I see are sedans. I just wanted to try something different. I plan on sleeping in mine when I travel. I also work IT for an organization with 21 locations. A hatch is much better than a trunk for that.

Same here, never owned a hatch. Its stupid easy its been, loading and unloading things in the back, and there's room for my dog too back there. Also 90-95% of the WRX/STIs around here are 4 door, and that's what I see most of elsewhere. I'm super happy with it.

I tend to agree. All the neighborhood kids chased me down the street shouting how cool it was. I guess I've got some fans lol.

Mind me asking why you would order sedan only when it's Sti?

98 miles on the odometer so far. Loving this car!

BTW... I put the STi up on a lift the other day. DAMN... did anybody notice how tiny the exhaust piping is for a non-SPT exhaust?

Today was my lucky day!!!

I went down to our local dealer today to place an order for my wrx and as I pull up I see 3 brand new wrx's being unloaded from a truck. 2 of these were already sold. And the 3rd... Darn near exactly what I was going to order. No wait and Ive got my white premium hatch Tonight. My price was roughly $700 over invoice.
