3 days late. Now the paranoia has begun:

"Oh, that's it...bet my car was damaged in transit and they're scrambling to repair a quarter panel. Yep, that's it. Bet it's sitting in the repair bay. Bastardos!"

So I troll the lot at 0400 hours. No car in sight.

Firstly, I am now being offered a different trade value than what was to be considered "guaranteed" when I placed my order and gave them my refundable deposit on 8/6. He even wrote this price on a piece of paper that I neglected to get a copy of. Now he claims that he is "unable to find it". 2008 WRX Premium Sedan. 53,000 miles. Good Condition. The price was $16,500, now $15,800...despite the fact that KBB and NADA are $150 more than several weeks ago (accounting for an additional 1,500 miles) and it now has newly resurfaced rotors and pads.

Also, at the initial ordering phase, I was quoted for my STi (Base Hatch, SWP, Popular Package 1, Sport Performance 1B, Boost Gauge, Shock Sensor) directly at invoice. They told me "that won't be an issue at all". However, I was apprehensive at the time as I had not seen a single figure for this price. Nonetheless I should've at least got the statement in writing.

They just sent me the MSRP price without tax, title and licensing = $39,262?! Are you kidding me? To top that off they have no recollection of ever stating they could do invoice and are saying they can't budge from the MSRP. Though, their MSRP price is still $600 more than the MSRP I came up with on CarsDirect.com. Regardless...this is still $2500 more than invoice.

All said and done (not including tax, title and licensing)...approximately $3800 more than what I was initially told would be coming out of my pocket. An extra $50+/month for six years??? I think I'd rather pay this as additional principal.

I'm super bummed. Who knows...considering my acquisition of electronic responses from 5 different dealers in WA (all of which quoted me at invoice with a confirmed value), I may be able to haggle them back down. Though, my hopes aren't exactly too high and am now expecting to be getting one in December through a more reputable dealership. But I will still be making an attempt and at the very least will get a free test drive! Perhaps I should mob around at 6k RPM boosting everywhere?

Anybody else have any issues similar to mine a couple days away or even the day of pickup? Or am I the only dumbass that let his guard down in good faith and in return gets it in the proverbial "ass" without the decency to at least apply lubrication?
Keep us updated. I would love to know how this turns out.

I'm ready to put a deposit down for a new STI, but I don't "really" trust any of the dealers around here to commit to my trade value, or atleast not F-me over when the new car finally comes in. All three dealers I spoke with told me the price of the car is "locked in" once ordered. All are willing to go down to invoice, but only one is going to tack on some options...consequently they also offered me the most for my ttrade and figured the most it would depreciate would be about $500 for added mileage.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

Order Update:

What was ETA for 24 September just got bumped to 11 October. They probably saw me trolling the lot at 0400 today via security cam' and said, "Let's f#@$ with him. Bump the date."

So for you guys getting early deliveries...congratulations. And go f#@$ yourselves.

When ordering my WRX, my dealer said that my car (2012 Impreza Sport ~3500 miles) would depreciate between $500-$1000 in the next two months... that seems a bit high considering I hardly drive the car and it will still be below 4000 miles when I actually trade it in..

I just called SoA, and got my VIN. They told me middle of October, early November. Basically, the guy had no idea where my car is, other than it's built.

I'm just hoping for an early Christmas present like a lot of you guys, and getting the call that my car is in.

I ordered the following last week:
Satin White Pearl STi Limited
Non-Nav
Popular package 3 - Cargo mat, two cargo nets, Homelink mirror, wheels locks
Vortex Generator
STi V Limited front lip
STi short throw shifter and bushing
STi aluminum and leather shift knob

Still no VIN, but my friend at the dealer quoted me an arrival time of December.

Wouldn't you be covered under the gaurantee trade in program? I believe SOA gives a firm price for your car if it's a subaru you bought new and are trading it in.

Yes, I will use that if they REALLY try to screw me on trade in, but the guaranteed value that SOA gave me was insanely low

I can't wait to order and attempt to "lock in" a trade in value for my '03 WRX -.- . I'm pretty sure I'll ask them how much they would give me for it and they will say some value and then when I go to take delivery on a 2013 STi they'll low ball the hell out of my trade because they don't care if I take the STi, and will turn around and sell it either way -.- .

Have you thought about selling privatly? Can be more work but could bring more money for your car.

Seems like the people in NY get royally screwed on wait times for whatever reason. Sorry to hear that, man.

Sorry to hear. I considered cancelling and getting something else too but I considered the time I already waited, it being my first choice, being regretful for not waiting till the end, winter around the corner and the money I already spent on parts.

I am ordering my '13 wrx base model tomorrow. I have been doing a lot of research, but this forum seems to have the best information by far!

Dealer 1 (local dealership): Will appraise my trade-in tomorrow.
BASE WRX offer: $27,007 (Including spoiler+install, dealer/tag fees) I'm probably going to add the auto-dimming mirror w/compass as well.
Financing offer: 3.90% over 72 months.

I know I can get 3.49% APR from my local credit union, and I feel like the offer on the WRX order is a little high. I have my own strategies, but I would love to hear some suggestions along with what price you believe I should accept as my OTD, tax included (NY 8%). Thanks and I hope I'm not already breaking the rules. I think this belongs here though!

Just officially got locked in at 1.49 with PentFed credit union. Highly recommended. I don't have a ridiculous credit score as I'm 25 so I feel like a lot of people could get this rate.

Interesting I had no idea you could get PBP with a non-STI. Looks like that ended last year. It's a beautiful, rich color. Congrats!

Your price seems high. Look about 100 pages back or so and there are invoice prices listed...+/- $500 of invoice is what you should shoot for.
