OK guys, it finally happened: my luck ran out. I was pulling through a neighborhood to skirt some traffic on 1960/hwy6 (btwn 249 and 290) and got pulled over by a constable for expired inspection, no front license plate, and apparently my address on my drivers license is also wrong... lol.

It had to happen sooner or later, guess it's time to go get inspected. Can anyone PM me some inspection places that they KNOW (experienced) will not check emissions or do a visual test (like having no cat)

Also, any advice on getting the charges dismissed? Get the car inspected, change address, and take a picture of the car with front license plate and bring the proof to court??

Sounds like you need to bite the bullet and pay up.

Yeah, I say pay up, but definitely don't ask for someone to aid you in a "criminal act" online giving the court a chance to not only fine you but bust you for attempting to deceive the court. Come on use your head, get a good "cheap" lawyer, should've asked for that instead. Then you and the lawyer can talk behind closed doors about what not to discuss in public.

da fuq are you talking about? Deceive the court? Where do you get this idea from? Something tells me you might have assumed too much instead of reading what I wrote

Who gets a lawyer for these small things? That's ridiculous

The bullet has been bitten just wondering if anyone else on here has experienced the same or similar circumstances and what they did.

I don't know what part of Texas you live in but everywhere I have gone has never done emissions or said anything about my car not having cats. Just make sure you don't have any CEL's and all your lights and bulbs work.

I believe both Harris and Montgomery require emissions inspection, although I've heard there are a few shops around that won't check for cats, but I'm not sure which ones they are.

Also, I've been hearing mixed things on whether or not the front plate law is still in effect. I know some recent legislation removed the fine for it, but I'm not sure the exact details. I keep meaning to read up on it but haven't

This spurred me to read up on the law. While it is still 'illegal' there is no punishment listed for the misdemeanor of not displaying front plates. technically the plates must be displayed on the front and rear bumper of the car but as the law sits written right now there is no punishment for misplacement or only having one plate int he rear....

If u get all these fixed they should drop all charges. i recently got a no front plate, 65 in a 60 and passing an emergency vehicle ticket and hired a lawyer for 70 bucks to repesent me in court.. pig didnt show up for court and all 3 were dismissed. didnt pay a dime of court fees. urs are not moving violations so if u get them fixed they should dismiss all charges.

There all fix it tickets, fix em before the assigned court date and they dismiss. You'll have to pay a 20 cpurt fee nothing more. And if you need an inspection I know of a place.

I know DFW, Houston, and Austin as part of the inspection they check for emissions. How complete a job the inspector does varies greatly. In most places as long as there are no CEL and most of the monitors are ready then your car will pass.

Driving with all that wrong was asking for trouble. It would have been easier and cheaper to comply .

I am not sure where you are getting your info on front license plates, but they are required and are supposed to be mounted on the bumper. I too on other cars run without a front plate or have it attached in the front windshield, but that gives them probable cause to stop you.

Good luck with fixing your issues.

Having no cats will still pass emissions. I am running a Catless DP and have no cats. I have passed emissions twice now.

I find those completely pointless with these cars since the bumpers have the mounts molded into them

Your actually supposed to be failed if your emission system has been tampered with because you are required to run catalyst but most inspectors don't look for that or even do much of a visual inspections, if the tires are good and no check engine.light is on, you'll pass but be careful of the strict inspectors because they will look for anything that will fail a car. I've seen it before, oh yeah I'm a state inspector
