Ya you could end up spending a lot of money that way. I think it's 40-60 a pop? This is why god made forums, so we can ask about things beforehand

I am not sure where you are getting your info on front license plates, but they are required and are supposed to be mounted on the bumper. I too on other cars run without a front plate or have it attached in the front windshield, but that gives them probable cause to stop you.
I realize it's illegal (texas is a 2 plate state) but my point was there is no punishment for the crime. Thanks for the info

Hello everyone. New to the area, just moved here from PA. Living in upper Kirby now. Nice to escape before the northeast winter set in. Looking forward to meeting some scooby folks down here.

Any idea if apartment complexes frown on people working on their cars in the garage? There aren't any rules in the lease and need a place to change my oil. Also can anyone recommend a good shop around here?

Don't mean to hijack the thread. Looking forward to the meets. Wave if you see my blue 06 WRX with Sti wing and PA plates.

Welcome to Texas!
If its not specifically listed and as long as you're not overly loud, you should be fine.
Take it to Todd at TNA Performance when you need some work

you will like the weather down here (transplant from OH here). sell your winter wheels if you have them as you won't need them anymore...that's what i did.

i have been here for 9 months and yet to make a meet. i guess that's what having 2 kids in 13 months (not recommended) will do to your spare time.

My car is stage 2 with a high flow cat, think I will have any problems getting inspected?

Also, if someone can recommend a local shop for oil changes/inspection/tires and such I'd also appreciate that.

I'll do my best to make the next meet. Where are the meets usually?

Shouldn't. Change oil yourself, the rest depends on what side of town you're on.

^ this. I can't remember the last time I had someone else change my oil. If you're not Chanman low or the size of JJ Watt, you should be able do do it without a lift/jackstands no problem.

I gave up a garage when I moved from PA, and sold my jack and jackstands since it is easier to buy new than to move them. I'll start changing my oil in my apt complex, but it will be a PIA getting all the stuff down to the car even with an elevator to help out.

Will trade beer and pizza for garage use lol

Car has 86k miles (I've done ALL maintenance since new) and its already starting to seriously piss me off that I somewhat lost the means to be able to work on my own car.
