What will really be telling of how much "pre-engineering" went into this thought of it being a vert will be the weight differences. I still bet this thing costs a good 4 grand more than the current brz and weighs a good 200lb more as well.

But bring on the women buyers and men who buy for looks (like a vert looks good...)!

"Mild tune", they are working on the final tune now and supposed to post up final results later today. Still the final cost for the whole exhaust and tune will probably be under $2000, and no turbo lag/fuel economy hit. I'll probably be doing this to my car if I decide to keep it.

I hardly buy 20+hp and ft-lb from an exhaust, tune or not. AS well as those midrange gains. Don't think any NA car has gained that much % wise.

Old GC 2.5RS had a nice mid-range gain from a proper ECU tweak. It was due in part to emissions for OEM certification.

Still, full exhaust and tune gaining that much should really help it scoot. Not to mention I remember hearing the intake manifold could use some work as well...

Hey, you're the one that said it needed more power. The ability is there.

Plus it doesn't have to be $28k. Get the premium for $25k. Or FRS for $24k.

This is exactly why the Mazda Miata was never a big seller; oh no wait, let me rephrase that; this is exactly why the Mazda Miata was/is a big seller.

Soltice GXP & Sky RedLine - quick, well handing cars that were "cheap" and did not sell - 280hp/280tq were the factory ratings.

S2000 - faster and more expensive than a miata, but was discontinued.

The BRZ got such a crap reputation because Subaru didn't turbo or offer an AWD version - two items that were never on the table to begin with in the design phase; people just need to accept the BRZ for what it is - a very good handling sports coupe that is reasonably priced.

Unless you can show me another vehicle in the same class that is either 1.) priced way lower and performs & handles similarly 2.) is the same price and performs & handles much better, you can "get out of my face with your ****."

and if you have a 2.0L sewing machine I want to see it; there is a giant ball of yarn in Kansas I've always wanted to sew with.

although this is arguably true, certain motors due to their design (think high revving, high compression, small displacement engines) don't exactly take well to just "slapping on" a form of forced induction; there is far more to do to adjust the engine to accept forced induction without blowing the bottom end to bits or blowing head gasket(s).
Your statement is tantamount to saying "a WRX/STi motor can make 800hp with a bigger turbo and injectors" it sure can, but how long will it last without giving some attention to the bottom end? a couple dyno pulls?

In my experience, the GXP and Redline failed cause dealerships were stupid.

I physically went into every Pontiac and Saturn dealer in Houston (over the course of about 2 months) and offered to put a deposit on either of them before release.

Each dealer I stopped in at told me I'd have to pay well over MSRP to get in one of them. I walked away from each one. I gave each of them my number and asked them to call if they changed their mind. I never got a call.

The only place the BRZ has a crap reputation for not being AWD is here, and even that is only a handful of really, really outspoken people.

Everywhere else the BRZ (and FRS) has a reputation for being an excellent car that is amazingly fun to drive, and would have a bigger audience, if there were more power.
