im looking about buying a wrx roller. i sent one of the forum members a offer on there roller and if he takes my offer. i wanted to get started looking for a good drivetrain swap i found a EJ20TT out of a jdm 03 legacy gt with the 5 speed trans rear end... i have done a little reading and found a few older swaps using a 96 engine in a 95 impreza. from what i have read one of the turbos may not fit i may need different motor mounts and not being able to use the usd ecu. but all i found was on older imprezas and older engines. will i run into the same problems with the newer engines?
here is the thread im looking at. http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/engine...urbo-ej20.html also is there a thread on here that has a compatibly list of what will bolt in/ play nice in a 02 wrx?

lots of information in that link..
you can run the engine like a 205 if you'd want using your existing 205 wiring/ecu/engine wiring/cam gears/crank gear/intake manifold. Although the turbo dynamics with the stock ecbs is probably never going to work right. You'd need to put a single mbc on the two wastegates. an 03 is likely an ej208 btw. go for it |

it is a ej208 so will the ecu play nice with it? i have looked at a few 99-01 ej205 though they may have low miles i dont know how i fill about having a older engine in the car. and new 02+ 205s are hard to come by and go for crazy money.

i have done a little more reading and it looks like i would only need to make a custom down pipe to keep the turbo setup.

It's not that easy, the drivers side turbo needs a semi custom up-pipe and a custom down-pipe and then, you have to delete the Brake booster as it is directly in the way of that turbo and you can use one from I believe the Justy? But its still really tight to make it fit, to be honest the best way to run that engine is to buy it and toss the twin setup and run a single setup, most people that have the twins do this anyway because the whole system doesn't work all that well and get really restrictive really quick. If you take this route you can run the typical USDM parts, and then run a USDM WRX ecu, which is not going to be a direct plug and play I don't think but I'm not positive on that.

Anyone have dimensions on the Justy brake booster? I'm swapping an EJ208 into my Outback, and the stock brake booster won't clear the turbo with the heat shield installed.
