Default Help with odd turbo sound

Can anyone discern this sound which seems to be turbo related?

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B0I...jRVMDFtOE5KNWc

Prior to getting some work down (head gaskets), my car was not making this sound. Now, any revs above ~4k produce this elephant trunk type sound. The normal turbo sound is hidden underneath, and can be heard while driving. This is some other sound layered on it. Any ideas?

It may be hard to hear, listen hard betwen 8 and 9 second mark, that is when it is most prominent. I'm also gonna try to get a better clip soon.

EDIT: here's a public link, http://pwnspeak.com/turbosound.mpg

i listened and i really can't discern much from it. I believe you have to logged into gmail (or just google in general) to hear it.

The link didn't work for me, but from your description it sounds like a boost leak. Check your bpv --> tmic connection.

Thanks for the input. I'll have my mechanic take off the BPV to inspect it. Anything particular to look for? The TMIC nor the BPV were touched in the shop so I'm unsure how this could be the problem...but I'll check.

Our smoker is broken, else we would have ran that through. But, if there was a leak, wouldn't I be getting signficantly less boost? I'm getting almost exactly 13.5 psi.

I'll see if I can get a better sound clip if the BPV doesn't do it. And I edited the first post to include a public link.

I believe I figured out the sound. The noise resembles that of a bad bearing the center diff. A local WRX owner pointed this out and reading forum posts tend to support this.

I am still yet to confirm the diff is the actual issue. But, I replaced my clutch recently, and the sound is still evident.

Any idea how long I can go with this sound before I start causing major damage? Again, the sound only creeps up under load. Normal acceleration is fairly silent.
