I'm planning on going to Bandimere on Wed the 11th. I probably won't get there until 5:30 or 6:00pm. I've talked my friend with the 3000GT VR4 to go as well. Anyone else up for it?

Also, how much does it cost to run and do you have to have a helmet?

Talking The 11th works here

30$ to run gates open at 4pm Wed only. Not many days left this season. Helmet required if you break into the 13s.

How many runs does $30 buy you? How many more Wednesdays are left? I may not be able to make it out this Wednesday, but I would like to see what an uppipe and EBC really does.

For $30, if you go right away and get checked and in line fast. You can probably get around 6 runs. I think that the last Wed. test and tune is on October 9th.

I am planning on running my car on October 2nd. It looks like my wife will be driving with Harvey in the co-pilot seat if he can make it.

Default Number of runs depends on crowd and how early you get there

WRXLVR:

It really depends on the crowd and how early you get there.

If you get there about 3:00 pm you will be in the front of the waiting line. You can pay and pickup your run card before the gates even open. Have it all filled out when the gates open, and go directly to tech and you have from 4:00 - 8:45 to run.

The fewest number of runs I've made is 5, and the max is 9. The last time out, I could have run 11 or 12 times if I'd been really intent on flogging the car.

As it gets later in the season, the crowd is not as bad and even late in the evening you will only wait about 15 min in the staging lines.

Of course weather and accidents can make for longer waits, but by this time of the year there are few new guys that do something stupid. Not like early in the year when some folks will blow an engine and run the full length of the track, spraying oil all the way.

That makes a long cleanup.

so...........
what if you don't want to test and tune?? what if i only want to run the car to see how fast i can go. considering i've never drag, i'm a little weary to just show up and run w/some big boys. and. I want to learn how to have the best launches and whatnot. or is there another day that you just come and run a couple of times for a small fee?

Default That's what test and tune is for

Billdo712:

What you describe is exactly what test and tune night is intended for. You can do what ever you need to do. You can have someone ride along with you to coach you, you can ride with someone else to watch them go through the process.

About 60% of the folks there will be doing exactly as you say. Some will be testing things like tire pressures, or shift points. Others will be trying different launch techniques.

Since its a flat fee for the night you can even spectate and only run 3 - 4 times.

One time you might line up with someone who will run the quarter 3 seconds faster then you, and the next time you my be lined up with someone 3 seconds slower than you.

Last night, I ran against a bike that ran about 10 seconds at 133 mph, and a pickup that ran a 17 second quarter.
You don't have to worry about whether you win a race as you cannot be eliminated. Its just you against the clock, for as many or few runs as you choose to make.

Come on out and give it a try.

I am saving my car for the dyno at the Utah meet, by then I should have my air water IC on the car.

I am wanting to keep boost up and det down with colder air temps, and am worried about breaking something like a half shaft with the 5,500 rpm launches...

*yawn* Hey Larry, do us all a favor and stop talkin about the air to water IC and whatever else. You are the world's worst when it comes to those excuses.

If you don't wanna run, why bother posting in this thread? Or are you really that scared of the "WRX lemmings" that all you can do is make up excuses?

friendly razzing

Oh and BTW, I'll be at the track tonite.

Get a WRX and you wont have to worry about breaking the drivetrain all to heck and back - it was DESIGNED for a turbo engine, remember?

You could go up and drag again on 3 cylinders.... you could have another cool story to tell for the next 6 months,

Sorry Larry, couldnt resist

I was trying out a new turbo and it wasn't all that great.

I ran a few mid 14's@98 mph and finally hit a 13.9@94 missing 4th gear. Back to the drawing board.

Default good news bad news

Well we got rained out at about 7:45, so I only got 3 runs in.

The cooler temps and higher humidity just about canceled each other out. Managed to run about the same times I did last week but couldn't quite get into the 13's like I'd hoped.

Did set a new personal best 60' time of 1.858 on a 14.165@94.61 run, so it wasn't a complete bust.

I think I've gone about as far as I can without any upgrades to exhaust or turbos. I think if I was willing to spend the time, I could squeek another 2 tenths out of it, if I pulled the seats etc. Don't think I want to spend all that time and effort for such a small pay back.

so I guess its time to start the major upgrade process and chase the 12's now.

Todd.. it was a Garret hybrid from Turbo Specialties. It feels great, but the timeslips said otherwise.

I put the stocker back on the car tonite for a change of pace.

Anybody want a used VF30?
