Unhappy 2011 Impreza OBS MT, rpm hanging on decel

My wife has a 2011 OBS, manual, and I am experiencing either a problem or "feature" that is quite frustrating. I searched, but couldn't find anything related to this.

Upon any sort of deceleration where there is zero gas pedal input, the engine rpm will hang for a couple seconds, then drop normally. This happens after simply releasing the gas pedal, after downshifting, and both in gear and in neutral. Anytime my foot leaves the gas pedal, rpm hangs. I really enjoy rev matching and double clutching my downshifts because it's fun, but this little lurch after each rev means I'm beginning to hate driving it.

I assume it's some "feature" the engineers put in the ECU to help lazy drivers. Can the dealer disable this crap?

I think it has more to do with emissions than driver assistance but either way it is annoying

Yea getting the throttle mapping tuned will do the trick and it makes it feel much much like a drive by cable throttle. It feels like you have a bit more power at higher rpms but your throttle is actually at 100% not 90-95%.

I promise that Subaru didn't limit throttle plate angle to 90-95.

Never knew this was an actual thing. I did notice my car drove differently compared to others, but never thought anything of it.

The RPMS do hang to help with the next shift. I have this option tuned out of my current map (2008 Legacy 2.5i 93 OCT Tune) I learned to drive manual on a 87 S10 I more of a manual rev matcher

I think it appeared with the electronic throttle. I miss my old steel cable...and moving gas pedal with cruise control

Is it worth the $500+ on the NA models? I don't even know if they sell them any more do they? I have thought about it, but wasn't sure it would pay off... I've thought about getting AVO's Drive By Wire throttle system for about $200ish.

But the have no support from COBB and no new maps are being worked on. Go open source from a reputable tuner.
