Default 06 impreza engine in an 03 forester?

2003 forester with a bad engine and wondering if I can transplant a 2006 impreza engine and computer. Have one with 52K. Wondering what the obstacles are, which wiring harnesses I might need from the donor car, etc.

Thanks for your advice in advance!

P.S. - I have been told by a couple of subaru "experts" that I CAN use just the shortblock from the impreza, and my old heads/accessories. That doesnt sound like a bad plan since the engine is low mileage and very cheap (I paid $250). I dont have any subaru specialists in my area, so if I decide to do this any advice regarding the valve job/head resurfacing on my old heads?

If your old heads are good I wouldn't screw with them unless you are trying to make a high power engine build. If that is the case, start doing research to figure out how deep you want to follow the rabbit hole.

thanks for the reply.....turns out the 52K mile engine has a rod knock. Going with a 2003 engine I found that hass 77K. So it'll bolt right in.
