Default ECU Married to lost Accessport Question...

First of all, i'm asking this question because I can't physically mess with my car right now due to deployment so I'm asking. So I have a 2002 WRX, I had my accessport married to the ecu, then someone got into my car and stole it...can I buy a new accessport and marry it to the same ecu? if so how?

thanks,
Duffy

contact cobb, you can send your ecu to them and they will free it up from the stolen ap. and if i remember correctly might even help you a little for purchasing a new one.

Yes. It installs the exact same way you put the first one in. The new accessport will simply overwrite the existing lock and marry the ecu to the new accessport.

There are no funky steps you must take, just install it like normal.

All of the information above is correct, but I thought I'd elaborate on one thing.

We realize that getting an AccessPORT stolen is a crappy situation to be in. We have worked with people in the past to get a one-time discount on a replacement AccessPORT. There is criteria that needs to be met though to verify that everything is legitimate. We require a proof of purchase (invoice or receipt from where you bought the AP) and either an insurance claim or police report specifically showing the AccessPORT was stolen. If you have that information, contact us directly and we will help you out getting a replacement AccessPORT.

Please realize that contacting us saying that your AccessPORT was stolen, but not having any proof puts us in a very difficult situation. Yes, we want to believe you; yes we want to help you out, but unfortunately there are too many bad apples out there to blindly help everyone.

Good stuff...I didn't expect to get an answer directly from COBB. I actually do not have the receipt, I bought the car and it came with so no proof either. So I'll be buying another here shortly!

confused so you do or do not have to send your ecu in? can a new accessport just over ride the previous married one without sending your ecu in to cobb?

Yes, installing a new Accessport V2 will overwrite a previous install.
