^ that's interesting.. Nice to know our intake is a good design, although it would be nice if there was power to be unleashed on the intake side.. was it ur car going thru the R&D?

Also, why the change of heart on the drop in?

I guess I'm not understanding what's the harm in just leaving it in for the lady.. Is it just that there were no noticeable benefits that outweighed selling it for a couple bucks? Not tryin to ruin ur sale, btw. truly interested in ur logic.

Just no use for it
She drive the car about 10miles a week now lol.

Figure I sell it to someone that could use it more.

You can actually hear the intake noise a lot more

From the way you asked it sure doesn't seem like you found it in these forums. Maybe you need to use your words better.

You are right, I should have worded my post differently. I was not wanting to ask a question, but what I was going to do, maybe not the way the blogger did his.

Have you found your answer yet? And, by the way you just posted a think with a few words. It doesn't seem like you put much effort, so I didn't either. I did actually follow the person you posted in that link. Again, I found the guy here. Pretty cool project. There was also a guy who tried using the SPT exhaust. Again, go back a few pages.

My big questions is whether any exhaust modifications are producing any additional power or if it's just for aesthetics and sound? I have a 2013 and would like the look and sound of aftermarket exhaust but I would only justify the purchase if there were some performance benefits to it. I'm hoping within the next few years they'll start releasing some more options to boost performance.

I've heard there's not much of anything you can do with these cars because of the CVT transmission and PZEV. I have also heard the argument that if I wanted performance, I should have gone with a WRX. I was pre-qualified for $22,000 and that got me a 2013 Impreza 2.0i Base 4-door. I also wanted automatic since manual bothers my knees after a while.

They will make very little power.

K&n tried making a intake and they told me the car made very little power.

Just buy a drop in filter (I have one for sale).

And ad a nice axle back for sound, we all joined a forum cause we love cars and want to modify them and have fun.

That's all I'm doing to mine.. Already have the drop in, and I'm getting the Moore axleback.. Aside from that, all aesthetics..

Well, it depends on your definition of exhaust modifications. An axleback or catback will produce very little performance increase indeed.

On the other hand, a full header back exhaust will produce a very noticeable increase

Point is, it's still not a performance oriented car. So header back or not, you still won't be beating STI's.. haha Just get an axleback if you want a little more sound and call it a day.. That way, you also won't jeopardize any warranty work either.

Actually, taking a car that isn't performance oriented and making it go faster IS the point.

And seeing how he used the phrases "any additional power" and "some performance benefits," I don't believe his intentions are to create a STI slayer.

What's wrong with a little extra power? Just because it's not an STI doesn't mean a little extra power/torque won't help in certain situations. Maybe instead of downshifting to 3rd one could downshift to 4th to pass on the highway or steep hill.
And some extra power doesn't mean you want to beat up on STIs..

I asked the same basic question in another thread and basically was told "it's not a performance car, why bother". So I said the same thing. My basic point is that I'm not going to spend thousands of dollars to make the car a hair faster.. I just want the slight boxer sound from the axleback, nothing more. I solely bought the car as a daily. Now I'm in no way saying "don't mod the car, it's stupid". I'm simply suggesting analyzing the price to power ratio.

I'm looking forward to a little extra power. My car is a daily driver...why not make my commute more enjoyable?

Indeedy. If someone wants to do something to their car, I am never someone to say "that's dumb". All I'm saying is that for "me", I'd rather spend the money elsewhere.. To each their own. And if you do go performancey on this car, more power to you. You better update the thread if so. lol

Hey everyone recently got a magnaflow muffler and exhaust tip installed on my Dark Grey Metallic 2012 Subaru Impreza. Sorry for it being dark was up in the mountains around 9pm. Boy was it fun driving it up there on the winding roads.
