Man that's good enough for me ay wonder what it'd sound like. Would it bolt straight on to the impreza?

So we have concurred that no OEM hatch exhaust for the WRX/STI will directly bolt-up? I'm guessing this is the case. I talked to a couple Subaru specialists in the area as well about a custom job..

A cheap way get the boxer rumble it to add some washers into the flange bolts so there is a small gap in there. Also you can unbolt one or both of the bolts in 10 seconds and it gives a nice rumble. Easily reversible if you hate it.

A downside to this is the gap is under the car so the sound is a little droney during long drives, but its basically just to sample the sound.

Dont believe me, try it out!

For the record, i tried it but never took into account how pointless it is coupled with the cvt due to lack of rpm fluctuation.

EDIT: I was able to try this without even lifting the back end. i just scooted under it on my back. easy peasy.

Ahhhh. So technically it's creating a small exhaust leak. haha

Will doing only a K&N drop-in and axleback on this car throw any CEL's? I'm assuming not since it's not messing with any MAF's or the cat..

Highly doubt that it would, but something like a high flow cat in the stock location then that's different and probably would

Yeah, that's what I figured. Not doing a header, mid pipe, anything.. Just axleback. Not looking for any issues. haha

It seems the newer headers have more of the boxer sound anyways

Completely different from the previous n/a designs yet displays some boxer "rumble" with the muffler delete. The 4-to-1 collector section reminds me of some of the Chevy V8 exhaust manifold designs. I guess Subaru had more freedom designing the manifold with the oil filter relocated to the top of the engine.

Yes, basically a compromise between stock and muffler delete. Either way its the cheapest way to get more boxer rumble.

Just talked to Ryan at Moore Performance and I'll be getting their single outlet axleback here shortly. Pretty stoked.

In related questioning, have we concurred that our headers are equal or unequal? There seems to be a debate as many are unsure. People are saying our new 2.0 n/a's sound better than the old 2.5 n/a's with the same mods..

They are slightly unequal. Somewhere around here there are naked pics of the oem header.

That looks awesome!!! Any way to customize that to work through a cutout in the bottom part of the bumper?? I would love this but through the bumper.
