A friend of mine got a new car this week so we had a big lunch/get together after Caffeine and Octane this Sunday. This is my first attempt at panoramic by stitching portrait oriented pictures together. 16 images were used in total to put this one together. It was the dead middle of the day so about the worst conditions to be doing anything serious...

Canon 5D Mark III
Canon 17-40mm f4L
Lightroom 4
Photoshop CS6

^This.

On the night shots I'd slow the shutter speed down to allow more ambient light and not have that harsh flash.

Third is my favorite but still needs some editing IMO. Granted I'm a total camera noob so take that for what it is lol.

okay. I'll go for less shutter speed next time. Also the light in the night pictures wasn't a flash, it was my friend's headlights illuminating the car. I did a 6 second or so exposure from a tripod.

Watch your backgrounds, the tree looks like its coming out of the hood in #1. Also there's a lot of cyan cast in the wheels, easy fix. #2 & 3 aren't too bad, I like the tones in 3 a lot.

No more shutter speed next time lol, as in faster. But yes, I think those shots are cool besides being blown out.

Ohh, I didn't even think of that. Try not leaving the headlights on for the entire expose maybe, and push the length of the exposure higher if 6 seconds doesn't give you much ambient.

I took your advice as well man. Ordered the 17-40L wide angle instead of opting for the more expensive 16-35. Also is the your friend's car in the pic?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^How am I supposed to follow that?

Anyways, thanks for those who suggested springing for the 1.8D. I Love the sharpness on close photos. I think I still need to work on the composition with this one; maybe I should have been a few inches to the left. It is a lot harder with a prime....

You'll love the lens. I actually shot that picture with it. It sure is...a crazy rare, yellow, Murcielago SV. I get to play with it more next week.
