Thanks for all the helpful knowledge and great shots throught out this thread.

Canon T2i
Stock lens

I know they are a little blown out. This was my first time using this camera or anything like it. Slight editing but I am not as talented as most of you. Any input is much appreciated. I did purchase some filters right after this. Thanks!

Unfortunately the time of day is just giving you brutal lighting. Try shoot in overcast conditions or just before sunrise or sunset. It will give you much better results. The first track day of the season was canceled today so we had to shoot something! This is 07LegacyGT's car.

Shot with a Canon T2i, 70-200 f/4 L, CP filter, Lightroom 4

Well we both know why we ended up taking pictures of your car now don't we?

They go for 30 bucks, I'll give you 25 shipped.

happycorey,
I love the rain shot! I wish the license plate lights didn't stand out so much though, it distracts me. Maybe you can darken it up in PS and see how it looks? Just a thought.

Hello I have been avoiding this issue for a while, i have been using a camera's and taking pictures for many years now but being 17 i am a little close minded towards other people and their input. Now i have come to terms that the only way to get better is to seek some help. I have been struggling to produce better images with the subject of cars, it seems my pictures are just dull, to me they seem dull at least. The images that i am putting up for this post are all edited using LR4 and taken with a nikon d700 with a 50mm 1.8, i sometimes use a 20mm 2.8 but for some reason that lens isnt very sharp.

I took this one on a pretty sunny day using a tripod

Why do you shoot at f/8 for all your images? You can definitely shoot more wide open to lower you ISO. I know the the 50mm isn't as sharp wide open but I think the lower ISO will make up for that. I would also level your photos, a few of them are leaning. I would also find a better location for your car so it doesn't look like you just "snapped" a picture really quick. Just my $.02

I got a few other more planed out shots that ive done these are just recent quick ones like you said but what f stop would i be better shooting at like f4? I seem to only should f8 for some reason but for other pictures of things that are not a whole car i change up my f stop and they seem to be more vivid and crisp.

'F8 is great!' - The only thing I remember from reading a book on photojournalism. Not necessarily the best DOF when it comes to static car shots, but it makes the background to foreground DOF pretty even.
