At $500 pre-owned, its a steal.

Not everybody needs a f/2.8 zoom. Especially as a hobbiest, f/4 zooms can get almost all the shots. Realistically, a single stop isnt that big of a difference, in DOF or shutter speed wise. Shooting weddings and PJ, Im still not sure what my f/2.8 zooms are doing for me over f/4 zooms. If Im really stuck for light or need DOF, Im grabbing primes anyway.
Yeah, I keep forgetting the size difference. I probably will end up getting the f/4 but I'll probably spend the extra money and get the IS version... I tried shooting handheld at 200mm with the non-IS and it was brutal.

And the IS version has two modes of stabilization. Mode 2 is for panning.

No, the conversation was saying that not everyone needs one. There is a good article in Popular Photography saying that the f/4 lenses have become extremely popular due to the increase in high ISO performance.

I know I was just being a dick. The only time I really wanted IS was at ~200mm.

The only thing that would stop me from buying something like a camera for that much money is the fact that I can get so much stuff for my car for that. I can tell by the quality of your shots that it's definitely worth it, though.

i had a choice...mod car or take pictures...i chose take pictures and put money into it, now its finally started to pay me back, unless i took up street racing, i doubt modding my car would pay me back ever, (and i did the street racing thing, got caught, racked up points and tickets/fines/lawyer costs, totally not worth it. haha. Someday i hope to build a nice car and have my photo business, but right now. camera was the way to go for me!

I'm assuming you were trying to focus the Acura emblem in the second shot? It looks like it picked up the driver's head light. Try manually selecting your focus points for detail shots. It will make a huge difference.

Also, is anyone going to Limerock on Saturday for the Histotic races?

Finally got around to shooting my dad's triumph. First time I've tried to light a car overhead.

I'm looking for some editing tips. I took this picture last night and adjusted the lighting and colors in photoshop plus cropped it.

Here is before

Here is edited

Is there anything I should/should not have done. Just wanting some advice as I want to improve my photography skills.

I'd try to get the car more in rule of thirds, the brick wall to the left should be cropped out or eliminated from the photo to begin with. That's about all I can think of right now besides maybe playing with the aperture and making the car more of the focus.
