I just really want to know if you know anybody that doesn't have a ridiculous car? If so I would need a picture to prove it.

Thanks! I really like the GTR shot. I don't mind the treeline. I kind of like it.

I've played much less since baby was born, but I still like it.

I don't delete the background in any of the product shots, but I do adjust the white point slightly. I try to get the background's as clean as possible SOOC, but often a little adjustment is necessary. Never a "cut out" type edit though.

Any BTS shots of your Product shots? The Ego shot was 2 lights (butterfly setup) with a grey background, but even with a white background I cant gget it as clean.

I am in a unique position where most of my friends have much nicer cars than I do. You know...they say...hang out with people that are where you want to be.

They also do really appreciate my Subaru though. Every time I change something they are all crawling all over the car. I hang out with real car guys...they just happen to have a fatter wallet han I do...for now.

I played the last two seasons of the Vicious Series and now I'm ranked really high D3 or low D2. Either way I can't play anything locally, so it's at least 8hrs to any event. Hardly worth my time anymore. I still go out to practice once in a while though.

Here's a really old BTS shot. They're all done with a similar setup. Usually one light at a 3/4 angle and pointed slightly down. The other is straight off to the side and parallel the ground. This is the one that really kill the shadows and fills the background.

The bottom left is SOOC. You can see that the background is pretty white, but a little clean up is left to get rid of a few more shadows. In this case I had to fill in a couple sections that weren't on the background.

Now I have an adjustable backdrop stand and I use large sheets of various colors and finishes (usually white for products). But the lighting setup is still basically the same. Camera and flashes are manually set. The flashes usually have equal power between them.

The closer they are, the larger they will seem. This definitely helps. That the #1 reason to shoot through the umbrellas instead of bouncing. It uses more power, but you can get the light that much closer. I think I'm typically around 1/4 power and keep the ISO in the 800-1600 range and f-stop f/10 or higher. Shutter is always at max sync speed to kill ambient. I could up the power and lower my ISO, but I don't notice any noise and the batteries last a lot longer this way... The further you can get the object from the background the easier it is too. Then you can just throw light behind it. The bigger backdrops I have now make that a lot easier. I usually have a couple feet of space behind the item now.

It's cool to see how you guys do that. You would never guess it was set up like that when looking at the photos. That's pretty impressive. I wish I got into photography a long time ago. I really enjoy it and like being creative. I definitely could have seen myself doing it as a career.

I started after college for fun. It's grown enough to be a self sustaining hobby (and then some). There is no way I could do it full time. I would not enjoy it at all.
