i often shoot at Rolex events as a freelance/magazine/newspaper photographer. you want serious glass...70-200 2.8 gets the job done for me at most events. (i have a million other lenses too, but the one i lean on most is the 70-200)

You can find them now on Ebay for 2k. But if you dont have the high end blad glass I wouldn't bother. We might unload some of these to dump into another +65 Digital Back, cuz one isn't enough.

When we do I'll post a link to the auction.

Thanks guys. I did feel a little awkward going in there to take pictures, I didn't want to cause any problems. I was obviously respectful of my surroundings so I didn't think it would be an issue. the grass areas were still mostly covered in snow so I couldn't get some unique angles that I wanted to try. Next time though.

Does anyone here have any first-hand experience with a Nikon D800? I'm looking to buy one here real directly and would like some input. Based on the technical information, it seems like a really good camera.

I have 2. The files are huge and the fps are slow.

By D600 or a used D700. And buy the best glass possible.

Only way this camera is justified is for studio work only. It's overkill!

Great camera just slow.

And don't get me started on the D800E series.

What else do you need to know?

i did a cemetery shot also once and I loved how they came out. I did get some people saying respect the place and such but I felt that it was a beautiful place and I wasnt off parking on the grass or anything and I kept all names out of it. Shot looks good.

@Sirricealot

Not usually a fan of using ultra wide on cars because generally the distortion just makes the car look terrible, but I'm really diggin your #2 shot. Well done.

Thanks. I would like to go back in the spring time when it's nicer out to get some better angles.

This is one of my favorite tracks! I would love to see an event there. Nice shot, I'm a sucker for Porsche.

The porsche is nice...but notice that car spun around on the turn before it?

Yes but a spun out car is not nearly enough to take away from the car. If it was flipped over then yes.
