Please critique

Thanks!
Take it easy on the sharpening. Very easy to have too much of a good thing. Looks better than the previous set though.

Wish I could've taken front shots but the Wagon currently has a plastidipped black bumper (he runs it in winter because he doesn't want to ruin his oem one.. Alaska is harsh on front bumpers).

Thanks! With the amount of daylight we get here right now forces me to do night shots. Going to see if i can do a parking garage shoot soon.

I really wanted that crisp look to my shots. may have over done the sharpening.

Went to B&H Photo in the city today. I didn't buy anything. It was cool to see all the high end bodies and lenses that I look at online every day though.

So this time I was using a tripod, but I still am not getting enough sharpness. Any tips? I don't have photoshop; would I be able to clean it up if I did?

Looks sharp to me. If you're using a quality tripod there shouldn't be any reason your images can't be sharp. It sounds like it's coming down to lens quality at this point. I would shop around and see what kind of non kit lens will suite your needs and style.

I don't ever shoot with a tripod at 1/500. Lower that ISO to 100, bump it to f/8.

If you don't have the 50mm 1.8D, get it.

It seems sharp to me as of right now.

Most kit lenses are not so nice.

I agree. But the 18-55 at least for Nikon is a great lens.

I don't mind my Canon 18-55 kit lens but ever since I bought my 50mm f/1.8 and my 85mm f/1.8 I haven't even picked it up in months.

Well one simple example is if you're shooting your car and your shutter speed is 1/500 and ISO is 400 there isn't really a need for such a high shutter speed. It's better to lower the ISO and the shutter speed (or increase your aperture with a lower ISO) which will also improve image quality. That's just a quick simple example
