I think there are great tips in both threads. Seems lately that this thread has become less a gallery and just as much a (primarily automotive) photography tips and advice thread.

Thank you. I'll take any advice at this point. Open book.

Armin's thread is very structured and has great tips that will absolutely help you. If you want very thorough, and I do mean thorough critiques, that is the place to be! I started this thread so people can see how different lens' and settings compare. This thread has definitely evolved to cover all parts of photography and is great to see so many people contribute. It has definitely helped me improve and I have met some great photographers!

Think I'm going to pick up a Canon 5D mark III soon. Anyone on here using one? If so how do you like it?

Canon 7D with a bunch of L lenses. I would be keeping the 7D also.

Yeah I was going to sell the 7D but I think my wife wants it to play around with. That sucks about the dirt issue. I had to send my 7D in to get dirt out of the viewfinder. Glad to here that you like it though. I was going to just get the new 6D that's full frame but I don't think I could handle the crappy auto focus after using the 7D.

I want a 7D so bad. It's also nice that it keeps dropping in price as well! Down to 1200 bucks for the body.

I still have a 7D with non-working flash that I want to get rid of!

My wife and I shoot two 7D's, two 5D's, and one 5DII. I wish we could go to 5D3's, but even with FF and good AF on the same body, I still don't think we could go with less than 4 bodies (both for quick focal length changes and redundancy against failure), so it would end up costing quite a bit.

Im up to 3 5D3s now. Love them. I kept my 7D for the 1.6x, but it hasn't been used since I bought the second 5D3.

I haven't had any issues with dirt or dust on the sensor or viewfinder.

Keep in mind that the sensor and mirror box are a lot bigger, providing a bigger opportunity for dust and dirt to enter.

Sometime later in the summer I may consider selling my 7D and getting a T1i or something like that.

It would have to be a hell of a deal for my wife to let me by a "broken" camera. (That's how she would hear it)

Let me see if I can sweet talk her. Like I said I should be getting my 70-200 f/4 IS next month so I don't know how this is going to fly, lol.

I know it's not the most amazing photo, but whatever - it finally SNOWED!!! It was just a quick pic I grabbed while trying to chase around an over-exited 6-year-old and a bouncing dog.

Did you lay in the snow to take the photo? I like the little green plant on the left.

She is definitely tougher than me. I'm not laying in the snow for pictures anytime soon!

I wasn't laying flat, just kind of crouched down/curled up in it.

I love snow so much. It started snowing last night about midnight right before I went to bed, then I could hardly sleep all night and just before 6:30 I couldn't stand it anymore so I got up and looked outside to see if it had accumulated. I was so thrilled I went downstairs, made a cup of coffee then went back upstairs to wake my daughter up. This is the first snow she's known. Then school got cancelled so we got to go play in it all morning.

I had wanted to go down to the river and take some long exp shots with the ND filter of some snow and ice and flowing water over rocks, but I forgot the tripod (doh!), so we just came home and played in the yard with the dog instead. No one in the neighborhood seems to have a sled though. My driveway is a steep hill that angles into a cul-de-sac and would be an awesome sled run.

If I wasn't cold all day I'd be way more willing to go out and play. My poor son has been begging for snow but it keeps missing us. .

I recently got dirt on the viewfinder on my 5dm2. I just steamed it and cleaned it off. It's been lovely since!

Fred Miranda forums are your best friend for used gear. I scored my 5dm2 for $1100 with 12k clicks.

However now I'm looking for glass that'll cover the area below 28mm anyone have suggestions?

Growing up in AK we would go ghetto fab and sled with a piece of cardboard, if they have pictures/designs on them (diaper boxes are great) you can really fly.

We were poor. But we had fun!

I guess as long as I am using up a post... Not car related but, Sunset on a frozen lake the other night.
