Not the yellow one!

Default e-town rally cross

I have only been on the "scene" for part of a season. I certainly enjoy auto-x, but a rally-x is what I really really want.

I was checking out the Vancouver forum - those guys know how to pull it out. Click here

Sept 14th is just around the corner - Is anyone interested in heading to Merit for a few days??

I checked out the local Rally scene (mostly out of Calgary) they have few rally-x's but mostly the hard core stuff. Am I missing something?

Randy

ps. I am tired of loosing to that goofy looking vet

Randy,

Petrie (Peter) in the lower mainland is a Rally NUT!!! A couple years back, he showed me pictures of his rally school experience in Ireland in a GC8 Body WRX. As Peter would say, Rally/Rally-X is "Simply Brilliant"

Also, keep in mind that the lower mainland Impreza scene has well over 100 cars as part of the Vancouver i-Club. They have the people and the interest to be able to generate the interest to conduct these types of events.

We've tried in the past to get interest here in Alberta for a club, but it simply seems to always fall flat on its face. Probably too much appathy and not enough numbers. Perhaps that will change some day. *shrug*

Cheers,
MB

Not the yellow one!

For the record, the CSCC doesn't have the rallycross events for this winter listed on the schedule yet. They are still in the planning stage at this point. Yes, there will be more, but when is open to debate.

i'm not bitchin... or anything i loved the rally-xs but i beleive that there needs to be more gear changing maybe even some 3rds... i know someone may kill themselves but looking at the vancouver one it sems perfect... i see some third gear straits there... i was in 1st gear and hitting rev limite too much and 2 was too tall...

Default Rally - X etc..

Here is my 2 cents on this..

I have been TSD rallying in Bc the last 3 years... Just one event a year up to this year ( 2 so far in 2002 plus 1 more in November planned). I have also made it to Calgary's Autocross once. I do all this stuff in my 323 GTX.

I would say that for a fairly stock Car TSD rallying is a great way to get some off road time. Escpecially the winter rally's where you are basically on snow covered roads. The TSD rally's keep the speeds below the posted limits but in winter this can make for some very challenging driving in places.

As well if you are interested in pro rally stuff TSD is an excellent primer. You are in the car for the whole day.. The Transits in Stage rally's are handeled similar to a TSD rally.. You also get an idea weather or not your co-drive can hack it without gravol. Last year there was 4 or more WRX's in the ThunderBird Rally as well as ton's of historic's plus even an Audi TT.

Finally I was talking to a fellow from calgary who went to thier rallyX's in his rex.. He had a body kit on and just destroyed it with flying rocks.. I would as a minumum put a skid plate on and mud flaps if I was going to Rally X in Gravel parking lots.

Hey, find us a site where we can have that kind of a course and we'll gleefully hold that type of rallycross Until then, the race city parking lot is the best we can do, and we have to design our courses to suit.

that parking lot is huge... but i remember you saying something that you can't use the whole thing or something... and those ruts would kill suspension in 3 gear in no time... i understand... its hard... i just was saying why most others don't come out that i know. Also i aint taking my only in a full blown rally.. lol.. it will be nothing at the end...
