Default Racing Seat Recommendations: OMP, Recaro, Bride, Status?

Car: 2007 FXT
Me: 130lb, 5.9", 28" waist
Want: Cushy comfortable for Daily Driver duty, light weight.
Budget for One Seat: $800
Weight: < 15lbs

Do I need side brackets? or base bracket + slider bracket is enough? Planted Performance brackets are awesome but seem too heavy +8lbs, any other light weight options aside from Wedge Engineering?

Considering:

OMP ARS, these have the cool factor and probably my first choice. Like the low seat cushion wall, easy ingress/egress.

Recaro Pole Position

Added to the list Momo Start 2012.

If you are getting this solely for a daily driver, you might want to look into something that reclines. Otherwise, you will be stuck in one position all of the time. I have been in many race cars where that is fine since they never leave the track, but for a D.D you want to think about that.

all of what you just posted is the exact opposite of what you want...comfy cushy for DD.

since your budget isn't THAT high for these seats, look into the Sparco turino, or milano seats. also the recaro SRD is an awesome sweat. they both recline and are quality.

take everyone's word on this, you don't want a full on non reclining bucket for a DD.

however if you do decide to bump your budget up STATUS is just releasing a reclining bucket seat. IMO, stay away from bride for DD. recaro, sparco, status ftw.

That your budget for one or two seats? Recaro Pole Position is very comfy and would still give you tons of wiggle room....probably better off with a Recaro Profi as it's a little tighter. I'm 6'/36 waist/225lbs and I fit in the Pole Position.

It's a very comfy seat though and quality is hard to top with Recaro. I DD'd that seat in my first s2000 for two years without any issues. Actually put the same seat in my 2nd s2000 although that car wasn't a daily.

getting good feedback so far.

I will get side brackets to adjust the reclining angle so no issue if they are not reclining.

$800 is for "1 seat only", driver's side for now.

I want a tight, light weight seat but also somewhat comfortable given the limitations of my requirements.

I will now consider too the Profi, the new Status reclining bucket looks interesting but will probably be heavier, weight is an important factor, goal is 3,000lb curve weight (2007 FXT).

I'd say either Bride Brix of Cugas. You want something with a very low side bolster to make it easy to get in and out.

I don't think OP cares what it looks like as long as its a great performing option. Almost none of the brides are. Have you seen their crash test videos?

Videos are somewhat irrelevant as I am looking for a bucket seat not recliners, although it says something about Bride's subpar R&D....

I can't recommend a current seat as my Brides (zeta 2) are a no longer available and I haven't tried any of the newer seats. But on DD with fixed back race seats, getting in and out is the only annoying part but you get very good at it. Once you have the seats in the right position they are very comfortable, I found them more comfortable than the stock seats on long drives too, I have done 5+ hour drives in them.

my seats.

Post #14, nice Brides, good to know they are comfortable even for long drives contrary to popular conviction. Love the battery under the passenger seat ! I am in the process of doing just that.

Those Cobra somehow don't rock by boat.

^^ ive had a pole position in my drivers side for 3-4 years now, SUPER comfy.

Oddly enough, I have an SRD in the passenger side and think the pole is far more comfortable.

I bought my Recaro Speed for $669 shipped.

Most comfortable seat I've ever sat in and I still enjoy it.

I'm 5'9" 160 with broad shoulders (these things are not for fat waists, and the shoulder support is pretty narrow).

+1 on recaro speeds or srd. Have the srd in my civic, very comfortable, great support, little to mild annoyance coming in and out, but very doable for a dd. Speeds are very similar too.
That's the only experience I have as dd, and I would say Recaro srd > oem GR seat in comfort and support!

good luck!

I will sacrifice comfort for weight, Recaro Speeds weigh 30+lbs, looking for 14lb or less, so pretty much decided to go with OMP ARS, Recaro Profi/Pole Position.

I've got a Pole Position and it's great although a little tight in the shoulders and being 6'1" (lots of torso) the harness holes are too low and I can't safely run a harness.

I upgraded my cushions to memory foam from JPM coachworks and it is a great upgrade (assuming it's over 40 degrees outside).

your specs should be fine for a pole position. You wont be too cramped to be a ball buster and your short enough to be able to use the harness holes if need be.

I'm not sure about the Forester floor optoins but are you looking to have a slider? The buddy club super low down rails in my STi make it hard for anyone under 5'10" to drive it.

yes, getting sliders and Planted Performance base, although it weighs 8lbs ! half of the seat weight.

Check out speedware motorsports' brackets, they also offer aluminum side mounts.

Sabelt for me, Loab (WRC) and Schumacher (F1 God) have used them in most of the cars they drive.
