Default A Case Study In Hate: My First Article For Jalopnik

Hey folks! I recently wrote an article for work that I thought I'd share with all of you. It's definitely controversial and, as you'll see, I wrote it to be that way; A fair warning to those who are against stance or an unfair comparisons).

Below are some of the pictures I shot for the article and the article can be read here:

Nice article, I thought it was well written and you didn't take yourself too seriously. I busted out the popcorn waiting for the comments, but they weren't as bad as I thought they would be, all in all. Not my style for the car, but its definitely unique! Without the bed cap, I actually like the look.

Great article. I have owned slammed cars (1958 VW) and loved it, despite the crappy ride. I now own a Baja as a daily driver, and your car is one of the reasons I am on the fence about the suspension. I might lower. I might raise it. Honestly I can raise it for cheaper, which will leave more money for my WRX, but it looks good low. Also, at my age, airbags would be the only way to go low. I can't drive the lady around in a static slammed car.

Great article. Love the Baja. Keep the bed cap.

Thanks. In terms of the comments, you definitely didn't scroll down far enough, because at one point, someone likened my car to an abortion

I definitely wouldn't rule out air suspension if it's done right. For me and the guys at Tuning Works, it was a trial and error type thing. But we figured it out and I love how the car rides now.

I read the piece right after it posted to Jalopnik. I liked it, and since i had ridden in a 2015 WRX that same day I thought your assessment of the suspension was pretty spot on.

Ah okay, I figured you were on Nasioc. I gave you props for acknowledging the cons to stance. I did laugh at all the people butt-hurt because your cap wasn't color-coded

Default A Case Study In Hate: My First Article For Jalopnik

I read your article on Jalopnik but didn't want to sign up to comment on it so I'm glad you reposted here!

I also remember well your Bugeye 2.5RS and was a big fan back in the day.

I'm definitely count myself in the "it's your car do what you want" category and actually really like your Baja (sans color-mismatched bed cap).

But one thing you mentioned in passing which had a big impact (see the comments) but didn't explain was the "This build is intended to make people angry."

I've seen this recurrent theme with the "I get hated on" "ruined" etc. stickers -- but don't really understand the point of wanting to making people angry. I mean I've seen rivalries (wrx vs evo, mustang vs camaro, z06 vs GTR, SRT4 vs every single car on the road) but any anger is usually an unintended consequence rather than an intended one. Except for pickup trucks with Calvin peeing on another "Big 3" logo anyway

I suppose I understand wanting to do a certain type of build, and not caring if it makes people angry and I understand trolling - for example, the three wings on the back of my car - but having a little bit of difficulty understanding this concept

Great article! I saw your Baja last year at, I believe, Wicked Big Meet and fell in love with it.

I thaught it was good, Love the car, especially the work put in.

Jalopnik is not what it used to be, With the kinja age the mainstream came with it. Nomore are the people who enjoy anything automotive and know what it feels like to own a POS and love it. Its all a bunch of non wrench turning, non shooting brake loving jerks.
