I have to pigy back here and say;

Wasn't the BRZ/86 doing drivetrain testing in a Legacy chassis?

Possibly as the BRZ is just an altered GR impreza which is a slightly altered 09 and earlier legacy.

New WRX is definitely like every single WRX before it, a turbo charged impreza. What's not to like about the new impreza- it's lighter, has more interior room, will have a new DIT engine for gobs of torque everywhere. Duh, it isn't 2 door, 400hp with STi 6 speed that can change from AWD to RWD, at 20k, NM it sucks

All Subaru's share a basic chassis architecture so based on a chassis is different than the same chassis.

I'm just saying the chassis they use for drivetrain testing doesn't always go through to production. I'm not up on the latest WRX news and rumors enough to speculate one way or the other, just that these pictures don't prove it's using an Impreza chassis.

srsly.

I bet the engineers had coffee and donuts with the guys that took the pictures, they were all like:

Subaru Engineers: Nah man, you can't take pictures, it's just a test mule for extreme weather testing, what do you want pictures for?
Spy Photographer: Cause I'm a spy, and that's what we do!
SE: Well, you know, thinking about this, imagine what they're going to do on NASIOC, the news and rumor kiddies are going to flip out!
SP: Yeah, see, that's the spirit! They're going to go ape **** crazy and some guy is going to threaten to jump off a bridge, another guy is going to burn his car in effigy, it'll be super sweet! We'll all laugh for days!
SE: Okay, you can take pictures, but make sure you make it really obvious that this is a mule by taking really good photos of the duct taped hood, and butchered up exhaust cut outs
SP: Of course! It will be all the more funny if it is painfully obvious that this is a mule!
SE: Oh, and let me open the hood and drape this blanket over the engine. You're buying lunch right?
SP: Ugh.

Comon you morons. This is the test mule for the new WRX powertrain. A smart person (which most of you are not) would obviously see that the XV is the inspiration for the next generation WRX if not an actual 'release' of the WRX that you will see soon - only in baby **** brown.

And they are still paying Subaru for the FRS, so if anything Subaru has made gains with the car.

Oh, I realize that. I was trying to point out that Subaru should have money to put into the next WRX R&D. At this point, I would love to see that was truly a WRX mule and a production timeline. Whenit comesd out doesn't really matter to me. Sooner would be better, but I have a 2011 and I am
happy at the moment.
