Today, I got rod knock...

Went for a spirited drive around downtown today and soon after realized that I was knocking pretty slightly. Turned it off and parked it hoping that it was just my imagination. Tried to start it an hour after and had trouble cranking over (I'm assuming loss in oil pressure). Have yet to get it diagnosed but I'm expecting the worst.

Bummer is an understatement

It has around 130,000 on the clock, and I don't think the previous owner had the engine rebuilt before, so it's safe to assume it's about the same for the motor.

That's about where my car and Bob Carter's suddenly developed the dreaded knock. We both take care of our equipment but used them hard as well. There were no signs at all until one day it was there.

You have a lot of options in front of you….unload it, replace original motor, get a used EJ207 (what I did) or have a motor built to your specs (what Bob did, I believe).

lots of opinions out there. Choose wisely. It is a costly endeavor.

What's that you say? You have 130,000 miles on your Subaru forced-induction motor? Oh...

That truly is unfortunate especially since you just dropped that six-speed in there.

You should have traded with Tripster before it grenaded.

I haven't really even gotten to enjoy the six speed yet because of the break in period for the clutch either! D:

I'm currently on the prowl for an EJ207

They're pretty slick….after living with mine the last year, it is hard to believe they are the same basic design…..I would surely never want to go back.

This is a good place to start looking.

A couple other guys locally have recently gone down the EJ207 route and Seth/P3 has done a few too.

I will say choose your vendor very carefully….with the popularity of these motors these days….there are some disreputable folks out there.

Pm me if you need any assistance…I gathered a lot of info myself before diving in. There are a lot of nuances. I'm no builder/tuner…but I've been around the block a couple times.

Good luck to you.

Loaded up the basket and about every square inch of the inside with luggage and moved on base for a couple days till I leave. I don't know how much weight but enough to make my flaps drag on the ground while driving haha

Yes! JDM tail lights! I always wanted to do that with my RS! Isn't swapping headlights and taillights fun?! Not being sarcastic, I actually miss swapping parts on the RS. Easy breezy.

To this:

Do I need to realign anything? I just took the housing out, changed the ballast and put it back on. I know theres someone who knows how to fix this.
