Duralast Gold.
Haven't had a problem, but my car sleeps in the garage.

From what I can recall when researching a new Battery for the S, there are really only 2-3 battery manufacturers, which then rebadge it accordingly. IIRC, some of the Walmart batteries are actually repackaged Interstate Batteries FWIW.
I've had Dieahard from sears, OEM (Interstate) and Duralast, all seem to have performed well and never left me stranded. Never tried the color tops, partially due to cost, and partially availability of the sizes I needed. |

It died in the cold several times. So I replaced it with a Sears die hard gold. This was back awhile ago pre lgt. But it was expensive and I felt I wasted my money.

When I was on the flight line, I've had my car parked outside for over a week at double digit below zero temps and it fired right up with the red top optima. I purchased it at costco. Only red top I've ever owned. The stock battery lasted >7 years on my car. I'm years into this red top now, No issues…though I do park in a heated garage at night now.
I don't know about all the information and disinformation out there on the net. A case can be made for everything or against everything. Personal experience carries a lot weight. You certainly can't believe everything you read in NASIOC. My next battery, I'll be going back with what I know to be good. |

I had a yellow top in an older car back around 2004, thought it was terrible died right after the warranty expired, only lasted a year an a half. Will never buy another optima battery again

I bought a DieHard Platinum for my MR2 because it was a 'gel cell' or whatever and I was under the impression that it couldn't freeze, which was important being in the front of the car without a heater or a garage. I guess it was great most of it's life, I remember I didn't plug in over night at chena hot springs when it was fifty below and to my amazement it started the next morning. Once it did die/freeze for the first time though I think it was pretty much done for, I had it replaced once and it still died a few times after that which leads me to believe that car had some sort of parasitic drain that I never isolated. I believe I paid at least a couple hundred for it and I want to say it had a four year warranty, I don't think I would buy another one. I remember a lady at sears trying to tell me that if I had let the battery freeze that my warranty would by void, which confused my because 1: it supposedly wasn't able to freeze, and 2: it was Fairbanks...

Ahh, well that sucks. I was hoping to have my parents pick me up a Duralast battery while they are in Anchorage tomorrow, but I am not gonna have them drive out to Wasilla.
