Browsing for a room for rent by December 1st with garage parking in the Anchorage area. If anyone may have something available or know someone looking to rent something out, please let me know. Private bathroom would be a plus but more interested in having a garage.

Came home last night to find a cute little floppy eared brown rabbit in the parking lot. He was very skinny and happy to get food, water and warmth. We're bringing him to the shelter today, unless someone wants to surprise their kid with an early present? Did I mention he's really cute?

Cool

As Chano "politely" pointed out I was OT in another thread and figured I would ask in this one. Looking for anyone who has a Crosstrek that I maybe could take a look at it and also information on it from those that have one. Haven't decided manual versus the CVT either so info on that also. Lemme know and thank you in advance!

I contacted them and they have 6 on the way but all have deposits on them. Nothing in inventory right now to be able to check out. They have sold the ones that they had. We shall see... Wanting to test the CRV, Impreza, Forester, Crosstek, and maybe an Acura... I am going to be having this car for a long time so I want to make sure it's the car I really really want. I am not in a rush to buy anything so doing my diligent research.

So here would be a question for everyone... If the Crosstrek and the Impreza are basically the same vehicle with same motors... Are the modifications that you are able to put on the Impreza going to be able to go right onto the Crosstrek? Engine mods and such.. Will be test driving an Impreza tomorrow hopefully with both CVT and also Manual tranny. Continental is supposed to be getting more Crosstreks in December...

Depends. Crosstrek can tow and is built to take some beating underneath for "light off-roading". It's also at a reasonable height for jumping right in. Cosmetically, it can use much of the same accessories.

Performance-wise, the new Impreza is purpose-built to be about as non-performance as possible. Fuel-efficiciency is the name of the game for the Impreza. The Crosstrek is suitable for more active lifestyles. If you want performance, get a WRX hatch.

So speaking strictly motors, they're the exact same, so whatever can be done with one will be possible with the other. When you get into swapping suspension and such, that's where things would get hairy. I wanted the Impreza because at least it would look better with bigger wheels and a drop. The Crosstrek, however, is meant to be raised.

Thanks Chano, also thanks for helping in the other thread. Got that all adjusted now. I went back to working some and thought I should come back and put in the reason for the new vehicle and more info and you had already suggested it. So thanks man

As far as modifications, just a reminder that the new impreza is not and never will be the same platform as a WRX/STi. Just in case that's what you were thinking, but you probably already new that.

Negative, just from what I've gathered. I shouldn't have made such a direct statement, you're right.

Hey, any time! I'm just excited about Subaru's line-up of NA vehicles. NA is our roots, man. We can't nix a Subaru just because it doesn't have a turbo. Plus, being in Alaska, I know a lot of us see the appeal of having better gas mileage due to our higher gas prices and having more utility.

If I were more of a utility guy, I would've kept my Forester. I'm a bit anti-utility these days, but that doesn't mean I can't help others justify their future purchases.

There's nothing like an actual test drive, though. I'm glad Mavrik let me drive his BRZ well before I got mine. I knew I wouldn't be disappointed, and it's not like I really had other options, but actually feeling how a car drives can better situate a person to give advice. I had a 2012 Impreza for a week, with CVT, so I feel qualified enough to comment on the new platform. A good friend of mine has a 2009 Forester that I ride in often, so I also feel qualified to comment on the Forester.

I don't say much about the Legacy or Outback current gen since I've only ever had them as loaner cars and no one I know personally owns either. They are VERY comfortable, though.

Everything seems to be based on the Impreza these days. Which is interesting, since the Impreza is based on the 2005-2009 Legacy platform. So, to me, everything is actually based off the Legacy.

I'm very curious to know what the next WRX/STI will be like. For better or worse, Subaru is going to cause quite a stir!

Just a heads up, the new 2013 tS Legacy sedan and wagons in Japan are all cosmetic and suspension tweaks, yet they're still badged as "tS STI". Super redundant, but apparently, along with the recently spied STI BRZ on the 'Ring, STI is informing us that "STI" doesn't always mean "turbocharged". The Legacy tS is still NA and rated at 171HP, so no change to the engine. The DIT is the one that's turbocharged, but they have yet to create a DIT STI or tS STI DIT.

I can't wait to drive a 2015 Subaru WRX STI tS DIT with CVT.
