No kidding. Don't know how that's not illegal.

It is illegal. Any HIDs on a vehicle that didn't come with them from the factory is illegal. At least I'm 99% sure that's the case.

One would think that we would see and hear more stories about people being pulled over for it. Lots of Em do it intentionally and fine it amusing.

When ordering parts for your car online, is it normal for them to request, insist, and almost require your VIN? I feel like the VIN is almost as sacred as my SSN.

Yeah, that way they can ensure that the part your ordering is compatible with your car. I've done this a few times.

I'm with you and I don't find it to be normal in my online purchases. The ONLY times I have had a request for a VIN were typically for clarification on a part that is known to have changed mid-year/mid-model so the vendor is certain the part is correct. However those parts are also typically noted with "VIN up to xxxx" or "VIN xxx to yyy"

I have had concerns about people "stealing" the VIN and doing something like identity theft but anyone could just spot a car in a parking lot and get the VIN off it too.

I'm sure a tow company would be happy to come you two out.

Or maybe one of those BroDozers but they're likely afraid of getting dirty.

Do you mean Minnesota Dr.? There isn't an exit for 100th off of the Seward.

Like in this area?

Well, from the looks of it, you're only about a 1/4 mile from the roadway. At least you could walk out if you had to. Good luck...I'm going to bed now!
