Default I was in AK for all of 3 hours before...

...I saw a Subaru pulled over by the police. Seriously? The first STi I see when I get to AK is followed by flashing lights . I also saw a silver '04-'05 STi pulling into Home Depot / Walmart on my way out of Fairbanks this morning. Hello whomever you are

Anywhoo, I'm in awe of the views up here. I'm sitting at Ft. Greely / CRTC staring out the window at snow-capped mountains and I don't really want to go back to Michigan next weekend. It's beautiful up here. Cold, but definitely beautiful.

I think I get Sunday off because the test site is closed, so I might make the drive back to Fairbanks and stop and take some pictures along the way.

If you are into this sort of thing, the resort at Chena Hot Springs is a nice evening adventure. It's a ways out of Fairbanks, but it's worth it. Good food (try the clam chowder), the ice museum/hotel with appletinis served in a carved ice martini glass served at the ice bar, and of course soaking in the hot springs. I was just out there last week, and it was a great evening.

The northern lights have been good lately too. If you are savvy with your camera, you can get some great shots.

Apparently next weekend is supposed to be a really active one, with Saturday being forecasted as a 5.

Thanks for the tips. It's looking like we might be done testing a day early, so we might be able to make the trek up to the hot springs.

I would take any forecast more than ~2 days out with a grain of salt.
