Default dash lights dont work

My car is a 98 impreza outback sport. So this is whats wrong. My dash lights arent working and the heater knobs dont Light up either. my speedometer also doesnt work but that might just be the sensor. so, what i am wondering is if anyone has a wiring diagram for the dash illumination. i tried to get a manual but haynes doesnt make one and i havent been able to find another brand that does. thank you

If you haven't replaced any of the dash lights then they may be burned out. Check the fuses under the hood and the dash to make sure they are ok. I assume you have made sure the dimmer control is up all the way. There might be a problem with the lighting control module also.

You can get manuals from Ebay.

Lighting control module. Its a little black box underneath the passenger side dash board. Search on RS25 I think there is a little more info.

i have checked the fuses and the bulbs. i connected a voltage meter from harness to harness on the circuit for the illumination and no reading. i connected to the harness on the left and went to ground and i got 12 volts. i think its a bad ground or something. thats why i was wanting a wiring diagram. thank u guys for ur help. i look on ebay for the manual. i will look into this mysterious little black box. any help is appreciated thank u

There should be 12 volts on the power wire side to the lights when the lights are on. I think the wire color is violet. The dimmer control ties to the illumination control module and it is tied to the return side of the circuit so it changes the resistance to ground to the lights. If the module is defective you should be able to touch a ground connection to the orange wire and the lights will turn on full brightness. If you don't have power on the violet lead then you need to check the switch and fuses for a problem.
