Default First time at the track

Im happy with my final results. I have never been to the track before so first time in the car and first time ever. My best out of 3 runs was 12.8. I know with a bit more experience i can shave a few tenths off of that, my 60 foot can be improved. My car:
2012 WRX Base model
Stock Motor
Stock Turbo
Stock Catback
FMS Front Mount Intercooler
Deatworks 1000cc injectors and fuel pump
invidia EL Headers (have not tuned the car since the install)
Accessport - E85 20psi tune (not aggressive, good daily map)
Catless downpipe
K&N Intake

Temperature outside was about 65 degrees. Im the left column.

You really need to get a retune since you installed the header.

I don't know how restrictive the stock cat back is but with your mods on e85 (and good driving), 11's are very possible.

Different dynos, 2 very different numbers.
Dynapacks at my tuner I put down 350hp 400 torque. On a mustang dyno which locally we call the heart breaker I put down 300hp 350 torque. So im somewhere befween there.

What do you guys recommend as a launching technique? I have been using launch control set at 5k for the track but I noticed I spend atleast a full second or even more spinning coming off the line. Should I be regular launching it in your opinion? Origional tires that came with the car are still on it.

Lower your launch control to 4500 rpm and try again. You can drop your tire pressure too, I had mine around 20psi with stock tires. Dont dump the clutch, do a quick slip. A little bit of tire spin is ok.

Get that 60ft down into the 1.7 range and you'll be good. 110mph is good for a low 12, but I bet you'll pick up more and be safer if you get retuned for that header.

It's a significantly larger turbo in the 09+ WRXs than earlier models.

this is the time I made on my first pass ever on a Torqued Performance stage 3 tune. It dyno'd at 286whp and 313wtq with 4 degrees of knock and no launch control tuned opensource, after my protune on an accessport I put down 290.5whp and 331wtq and I'm confident I could hit a low 12. With your power you should be high 11's easy.

IMO you should really push your car more, 24psi is what my friend is on and he's pushing the same numbers minus the EL headers, heck I'm at 22psi on pump (granted, different tuners tune differently and you might be pushing more aggressive timing). E85 is pretty damn knock resistant. Another thing that might have caused you to have such a low time is a slipping clutch. My friend had to replace his to a stage 1 ACT because he couldn't put the power to the ground.

Details you didn't provide. Nor did you mention what vf turbo you have. Or what gas you are using. Or your tuner. Or bolt on parts. Lots of variables here. Particularly if you take into account elevation, track prep, ambient temperature.

It's obviously a stock vf52, and he mentioned all of what you just said minus who tuned it and I'm guessing it was most likely BrenTuning.

So Black94Snake has a stock vf52? On his 07 WRX? Which came with a td04? Well ****, I must be confused! Clearly he had a prototype turbo thrown on his car from the factory. Ya know, 2 years before that turbo came out on a stock WRX. Huh. Of course, he didn't mention any of the other things I stated. But clearly you know this. By reading his mind.

Cliff notes: you are a dumbass. Stop posting. Or, alternately, read first.

No, its a 43. The search function has been less than helpful with details comparing the 39/43/48 and the 52.

You never stated who you were talking to asshat. This thread is about a 2012 Wrx not an 2007 Wrx so idk what drugs you're on but get off the internet before you embarrass yourself.

This thread got way off topic. Warlock... Were you racing in the Forced Induction Sport class? I think I might have you confused with someone else. I was running FiS on that same day.

Unless I missed the boat, 12 WRX's have a VF52.

As for differences, you won't find good, concrete data. I will tell you based on all of the cars I've tuned, the 52 is good for ~20whp more than a 39/43. It's a great turbo.

Black94Snake has a vf43 on his 07 WRX. That's what he is referring too. freddy is just an idiot.

I agree with the lack of concrete data but it's cool to have some empirical data anyway. Appreciate the info.

get some good tires and practice your launching, 1.6 60fts should be doable when you get the hang of it.

Yeah, it was BrenTuning. I am running the stock BCS and mine just stoped at 20psi so that where we kept it. Im going to go back there soon with a perin 4 bar map sensor and a grimmspeed EBCS.

No, i was just Test and tune. I never tracked a car before so I didnt want to enter a real competition lol, just wanted to get a feel for her.

Yeah, will do! Im still on stock clutch as of this minute but I have a stage 1 HD clutch waiting to go in asap. I think that will help, im defintily noticing some slipping at launch and in 4th. Could be slipping elsewhere but I dont notice it, more focused on other things haha. And yeah i need more practice, this is my first AWD. Not afraid to admit that the car was under performing due to my lack of experience.
