You need to get back into some fast subarus down there again.

Not much subaru excitement coming from PR these days

how long before you go to the track with it?

Are you coming to E-town in October for the Sport Compact Fall Nationals?

The car will possibly be ready late October early November. I have all the parts I need except the turbo I'm not exactly sure which one I am gonna use! In October it's possible that I go to e-town with a friend who has an Evo in NY. On September 22 is the Evo vs wrx shootout which I am planning on going to also.

Anyone interested in winning a race or breaking a record does what they can within the rules to make it happen. The Evos with stock turbo and stock shortblock records are lighter than my car and Jason's. If someone wants to hold this record, weight reduction is a no brainer.

When I ran 10.4 in 2007 that was a budget setup of things thrown together. I had Brembos in the back and legacy sport sedan front brakes and all sorts of other random parts slapped together. The engine came from another shop and was definitely worse than stock, but still it wasn't a stock shortblock so I can't count that. To put "worse than stock" into perspective, the shop that built it had every single clearance totally wrong in the shortblock, they left some of the inner springs from the dual valve spring kit out on multiple cylinders so I had valve float, valve lash was wrong on every bucket etc. and there was no porting and it had stock cams. It's a miracle that engine ran at all so I was really proud of how the car did all things considered.

The heads I have now are done right, we degreed the cams, we built the rest of the turbo setup at our shop and the car isn't a mish mosh of random parts any more, though it's totally set up for time attack, not drag racing. It probably makes similar power now at 21 psi to what I had at 30 psi on that goofy engine. I'm guessing I'll 60' worse than that old setup, trap a lot more, and ET a little better, but we shall see.

So Roly's 10.49 above is the record for now. I won't be close to that 1.45 60' since I won't have slicks, but we have my front splitter bracing etc. almost done now so I'm looking good for being at the track Friday.

I tried to break the record today...unfortunately I broke an axle instead. It was on my first lap on the road course before the drag strip opened. My subframe is also damaged from the axle whipping around after it broke so we have some repairs to make.

I went back and ran around the road course a bit, but it had rained so they didn't run cars on the drag strip last night.

It was opening day at the local 1/4 mile strip so I took my road course car there and broke this record by a lot, without hurting the engine

Subaru enthusiasts will never have to hear that Mitsubishis can run nine seconds on a stock shortblock and Subarus can't again.

Thanks to my crew at Innovative Tuning, The Driveshaft Shop, boostcontrollers.com for their support! Details, pics, vids to follow. Sunday is my family day so I'm getting home to my wife and kids and I will post info tomorrow.

Makes me want to go back to the track and try to get closer with more boost and some weight out of the car.
