I'm trying to decide on a downpipe. but idk if going catless will bring me problems when it's time to do emissions. any of you guys running catless ran into problems during emissions?

There is no visual inspection. As long as your ECU shows ready, you will be fine.

^^^^
What he said, you may have to get an oxygen sensor spacer (o2 bung/spark plug indexer) to get it to work. But it most certainly has been done, PLENTY of times.

Do you have any CEL's? Will your ECU pass a readiness check? If so, you will pass.

dont mean to hijack. but also emission related. Do we have a safety inspection in AZ? if so what does it consist of? Have various cracks across the windshield.

So there's no visual inspection as far as the exhaust?

I've NEVER seen any of the techs do a visual inspection, BUT I've heard stories of people failing the visual inspection via mirrors.

That being the case, I think your odds of that happening are literally one in a million. There was probably a new guy there and they were showing him the ropes or something stupid.

from what I gather, under carriage inspections are for older vehicles that have to have the sniffer.

Like Ken said, they plug into your obd and if it says you are good, then you are good. They don't give it a second thought, they point if an obd system is to ensure that the motor isn't outputting bad emissions via bad equipment, catalytic converter air pump, etc.

So of the obd system says you are good, then the gov't by default "assumes" you are good, while trying to sniff out people with tuned out CELs is not worth the effort
