Default New rims unsure of tires

Ok guys so I just got some new rims for my car but Im not sure what size tire to get for them I have a lowered 2005 sti and the rims are 18x8 +45 offset i saw on another thread someone suggested 255/35/18 but im unsure if you could please help me out it would be greatly appreciated

255 is too wide for an 8" wheel. I'd suggest a 235/40-18.

40 is 40% of the first number (tread width).

235-40-18 will not rub. You could also do a 245-35-18 but the choice of tires is limited in that size.
