I have a case but it is fairly minimal on my iPhone. It's made by Magpul so it matches all the stuff on my AR. No screen protector, when the glass gets dirty I just wipe it off.

No case and no screen protector here. Both are stupid. These phones aren't that expensive to replace or fix. Also, the matte screen protectors are stupid because they make the screens look pixelated.

My thinking is that I can buy a used replacement or spare parts for a fraction of what the phone was new. I see no sense in ruining the beautiful design aestetics and form factor of these phones (iP4, SGIII, One X, GNex, etc; they are are wonderful in the hand) with case/screen protectors.

This needs to be reiterated. But I'm not going to freaking swap cases depending on if I'm three sheets to the wind or not

I don't care what anyone says either the screens get really scratched without a protector. Constantly wiping the cheeto dust finger grease off with a shirt gets old.

I guess I drop my phone too much.

Magpul should hire me. I've easily convinced about 8 people to get my case.

It's so bad, I may not get a new phone until Magpul develops more cases.

I hope you're not one of those who think they can get another brand new iPhone for $200.

No, of course not. But a used 4s can be found for what 300-375? And they can be fixed for much Iess for common things like broken screens or stuck buttons. Or buy a iP4 for less and wait it out until your next upgrade. You're dropping $2400 on the contract for 2 years, the phone is the cheap part.

And in this I'm assuming iPhone. Most every Android phone is far less used. That's the advantage of new hardware every month from the OEM's. You can pick up used GNex's, which is a great phone, for around 250-275. Not bad.

Um if you break your iPhone and still have it but no applecare, you can get a 'new' one at an Apple store for $200 basically no questions asked.

Nope. I'm just careful. I've dropped it exactly once and it was because I was dumb and set it on the dash of the car and then drove forward and it slid. Otherwise, no problems. Just be careful. I ride my bike with mine. I work on cars with it. Heck, I rode Moab with it. I'm just careful to put it out of harm's way. Having a phone that isn't as fragile as the iPhone helps too.

If it's not in my hand being used, it's in my pocket or charging on my desk. Sorry I'm responsible.

I don't work at a desk, so it's a little different. My job is a little more "active".

I just think it's pretty amazing that it has never fallen, not even once.

There is some truth to this. Every Moto I've had was a tank. Dropped down stairs, rained on, etc and working great.

The problem with the iPhone 4/4s is it was a crappy design from a robustness standpoint. Especially the glass back that gets scratched to hell from normal use, doubles your chances shattering on impact/falls, slides off every surface that isn't flat/rubber, and slips from your hands if the are wet/sweaty. It was a major sacrifice of durability for style. And a mistake on a mobile device in my opinion.

Charging at my desk means at home when I go to bed. I can count on one hand the number of times I've dropped a phone in the last 10 years. Pockets are useful!

And they will swap them out until you get a good one. Though they claim they are new.

How? Do you have to return the broken phone?

How long after purchase is this possible?

I haven't had mine for long but so far I like it. The material seems stiffer which I think will help as every other case of similar design I've had (3 or 4 now) all get loose fitting. Not to mention at $10, it is $20-$30 less than the others I've tried.
