Yeah, up until now I didn't realize that the chip in my credit cards and NFC in a phone was the same tech.

So, in my experience there has been about a 10% success rate in using NFC, thus I don't even bother anymore. Even more stellar.

yup, the 4S wasn't a big upgrade either, but it was still their best seller.

"Our best <product> yet." is a lot like saying "Right now I'm the oldest I've ever been."

again, i have no idea where you got this from. 10% success rate in what? using it or finding a store that uses it? NFC works great now and will only become bigger. For example, i just bought a bunch of NFC stickers that i programed to do different tasks. now when i get into my car, i put the phone in the coin tray which has an NFC sticker. the second the phone touches the sticker, my wifi turns off, my BT turns on, music app starts playing, GPS turns on and display goes to lowest brightness. when i get home, i charge my phone on my night stand's NFC sticker and my ringer goes to full volume, my alarm gets set automatically, my notifications goes to silent.

Wat. I use the NFC on my phone almost daily and it works perfectly for payments and otherwise.

The amount of haters in this thread is astounding.

News flash, nobody cares if you buy or don't buy the thing nor do they care about your worthless opinion about it.

Carry on.

Every iPhone for the last 5 years has had some 'gotta-have-it' feature. The iPhone5.. notsomuch.

4S - Siri
4 - Retina Display
3GS - Fastest processor/benchmarks & battery life (at time of launch)
3G - 3G network connectivity (on AT&T)
OG - first capacitive-multitouch smartphone

Does technology often confuse you? I think you picked the right phone. No troublesome new things to learn and the screen always look the same.

yep. NFC stickers plus good apps on the Google Play store and you will do things that you only saw in sci-fi movies

this is with the samsung app which doesn't have nearly has many options as some of the other apps but it shows you what can be done:

If you're going to give the 3G "3G network connectivity" you can give the iphone 5 "4G LTE" connectivity.

Sounds like neat features. But every time I try to use NFC on my credit cards, it doesn't work. I asked a few people and they agree. The consensus is it's only worked consistently at McDonald's. I tried it at a vending machine the other day and no go. I've attempted it at a 7-11 in the past and it didn't work either.

From the feedback in this thread, it seems vending machines, 7-11s and McDonald's are the top places you guys use it. Awesome junk food buying tech!

if it loads heavy OT derp threads (50 posts a page) like a boss then maybe i'll upgrade (the 4s struggles at time, lags and sometimes even crashes if there's tons of heavy gifs)

of course, i'll just sell my 32gig 4s for 300 so i only have to pay very little out of my pocket.

again, i can't wait for the web-loading time comparison videos.

Were there other 3G smartphones on iphone carriers when the 3G launched?
