I know it's been said a 100 times in here, but phenomenal work! You are a true craftsman and I'm glad you shared your work, hopefully your skill is used in your job because it's obvious you love this stuff. The finished product is stunning compared to the stock interior. It's funny how the corvette and Porsche 911 do this as a top end interior, and you did it at home for a few hundred bucks! More pics, give us some pics in the sun, some close ups of the contrast in the black and steel gray, even some lines from running your hand different directions on the alcantara lol. I could look at pics of this interior all day long!

Cheers

Haha, thanks man. I was reading through your post and was picturing myself out in a sunny lot caressing my dash with one hand and filming in the other until I realized that this was some kind of Alcantara porn video, damn you!

Anyway.... As soon as I get a sunny day I will try to get some new shots up if they look good enough. The reason I did the images at the beginning of the thread in a controlled environment is because it's the only way to get it to look like how it does in person. Now matter how you do it, images done in raw daylight will make the top of the dash 10x brighter then the lower dash which will make the black look gray and the gray look black. It's quite terrible and make every shot look like I took it with a playschool toy camera.

I can do some new angles of specific areas soon. The weather has been really crappy so the car hasn't left the garage since last week.

First attempt at a .gif image of the before and after. It's 3mb so it'll take a minute to load.
Hopefully it works!

You've inspired me. I wrapped my previous car parts in vinyl, cloth, leather etc. Haven't worked with alcantara before but looks like I will soon. I about pooped my pants when I saw your interior.

Hahahahaahah!! That would be a good reason to redo your interior. The smell of poop will go away after you add a couple panels of Alcantara and contact cement in the interior!
I love the new interior though, it's like being in a completely different car, it's awesome!

That's a good point. How strong was the smell from the contact cement and how long did it last?

Rofl, well at least it's alcantara porn and not alpaca porn. Hrm an alpaca covered dash, it would only work on a hatch though for the shag wagon effect.

Wow that looks amazing! Great job and thanks for making this thread.
Question I went to their site and they offer 3 types
Panel, cover, or perforated(round) which one did you used?

Hey thanks!
The Alcantara I used was the Panel. The cover has backing and the perforated well, is perforated, lol

Thanks for the reply, I might try this on my 02 interior instead of buying the STi one like everyone else does.

Well done, putting the work in is impressive enough, but then it's turns out as a mint install on top of that. Amazing.

Haven't thought too much about doing the doors... I've seen them done and never felt the need to do them. I guess because I use the car and having the lower door panels and trunk area done seems to be an insane thing to do when it's daily driven. All the pieces I've done so far are rarely touched so I have a feeling they'll look mint for a log time. The bottom of the doors get scuffed and the trunk is my pickup so there is no way to avoid some type of damage to them.
Also, since the doors would be one huge piece of Alcantara, if it gets scuffed or scraped , I would have to replace the whole door panel

Couldn't have done it without your help! By the way, would you mind if I just post random progress pics in your thread? Or would you prefer to have it clutter-free?

Glad I could help!!
Thanks for asking too about posting images on this thread. At least for now I'd like to keep it as clean as possible until I finish mine. I have a couple more pieces to do that I would like to post close to the others without having too many gaps in the thread to confuse people . I have an image someone posted of a shifter on the first page that people were PM'ing me about. It totally broke up the feel of the thread so I tried to post pictures of the airbag to bring it back to my interior again. Give me a couple days to finish up some smaller pieces and post them, then I'd love to see some of your work on here.

Thanks!!

I've been reading these forums for a year, and I've never felt compelled to post anything until seeing this. What a fantastic job! Congratulations on a project well done!
